Post-finals ladder
1. Richmond—only a lack of desire will hold back the premiership treble
2. Geelong—not yet ready to fall off the cliff; Smith, Higgins, Cameron and Kardinia Park will make them even better
3. Port Adelaide—problems at the bookends but good enough to cause headaches for most oppositions
4. Brisbane—heaps of room for improvement in gun youngsters like Bailey, Berry and McCluggage but ruck looks a worry
5. Fremantle—quietly building an outrageously talented list and will be better with Logue, Hamling and Pearce fully fit
6. St Kilda—offcuts and ratbags to make a decent fist of it, guided by an excellent coach
7. Footscray—massive chance to improve if they can make the list gel ... top 4 not beyond them
8. West Coast—will win enough at home to go OK but just don't see enough to contend when the going gets tough
9. Sydney—my big smoky; with Buddy back they only miss a couple of decent backmen before competing again big time
10. Carlton—great backline and promising forward line but Cripps needs more help and Kreuzer will be missed
11. North Melbourne—if I was a supporter, I'd be very excited with possibly the best young crop of players in the competition
12. Collingwood—a season that will end Buckley's time at the helm
13. Gold Coast—still not convinced despite smart recruiting and loading up on top end talent ... 2022 looking promising though
14. GWS—time for the fall and might spell the end of Leon's time in the head role
15. Melbourne—lack of skill and x factor will ensure well prepared teams continue to have their number
16. Essendon—if you thought it was already bad ...
17. Hawthorn—in no-man's land; can't see how they win games against even moderate opposition
18. Adelaide—miles off the pace and will be embarrassing at times with an inability to compete for sustained periods
