In all honesty I haven’t seen enough of him, but studying the form, he didn’t come into my top 12 calculations a few weeks out from the draft.
Seemed to come with a bullet.
Jason Taylor brave to leave Curtin and Caddy on the table imho however they may not have fitted a need.

That's a great point about the spurning of certain draftees by those with skin in the game, DA.

Piecing this back together-

With Curtin, Caddy and Read on the table Adrian Caruso traded pick #7 out to Adelaide. He thumbed his nose at them. Big play. Likey. Because he knew Phoenix Gothard would still be there at a much later pick. And he rated Gothard above the others. Including Connor O'Sullivan. I love this play. Time will show how right he was and he will be judged.

Wells bid on Read then paused. And he then spurned Nate Caddy. And traded out to Essendon before taking Connor O'Sullivan.

Those with skin in the game, two of whom have recruited premiership sides, just gave us the benefit of their opinions.

Hamish Ogilvie and Adrian Dudoro traded up to get their players. Big plays. They disagree with Taylor, Wells and Caruso.

That was an interesting draft.

Boston Dowling, we were very keen to get him to our VFL side this year. Spoke to him before last years draft.

At Collingwood VFL and an overager at Oakleigh, definitely one to watch. We have interest.

Curtin got 31 in the SANFL and is about to debut. NB Adrian Caruso traded out of Curtin. Into Gothard and Leake.

Jake Rogers cruised into an RS nom. 22 and a goal. Didn't get much heat but did a couple of freakish things.

Harvey Thomas is absolutely flying. Far better than Darcy Jones (debut) on the weekend IMO.

Connor O'Sullivan (that's the bloke Wells traded down for) has debuted. Looked a little lost but was switched back and forward. 13 touches and 5 spoils IIRC.

There are plenty more coming. Will Dawson is doing some terrific stuff at VFL level. Windsor is a terrible field kick but a dead eye on goal. Zane Duursma always profiled as mercurial. He is currently badly coached. Looks a bit over awed at times but is a glamour.

I'm not a fan of Caddy or DiMattia. But I like Watson's ferocity even though he lacks polish. Billy Wilson has already been concussed.

Lyon is using Schoenberg as a designated kicker. He's had two bags of 30 touches at VFL level.

Will Graham got 31 at VFL level and was straight into the ones. Has 12 and 11 tackles in his best games. Gets SI.

I think McKercher levelled up on the weekend. Tough. Smart. Looked a much better player than Sheezel on the day.

18yo Jed Walter plays forward. So Jack Atrosius must make room. Atrosius plays back now. Not many 18yos play key forward. Ever.

Cooper Simpson looked good on the weekend…. Nice step, pace and decision making seems ok. Think we traded his pick to Freo to slide and ended up with KM…
Interesting to watch…
Stan

Essentially we got 2 3rd's and McAuliffe for Simpson. 700-750 additional points for trading up the ladder plus McAuliffe, seems like good business, hopefully it will seem like extraordinary business in a few years.

The only thing interesting about tonight’s game is the debut of Curtin. Wasn’t that sure about him last year being top 10 so keen to see how he goes not just in this game but the next 18 months.
