AA 2023

The amount of influence Cornes has is shameful.
How can an AA selector be so critical of players and then have the ability to select the AA team. Conflicted much?

The Saudi Pro League has more integrity than the AFL.

I wanted to post the photo of Dusty ripping Dangerflog a new one in the 2020 GF. Says it all about any comparisons and AA crap bestowed by the AFL medja, but I thought the better of the copyright.

You all know the image anyway, it’s burned in our brains.

There's no doubt the media shape a lot of agendas regarding Richmond players.

Our lads will sleep easy with the Premiership medals in the sock drawer.

We were completely ripped when we were the dominant team. The AA forward line would destroy the AA backline.

Yes - it would kick 40 goals.

4 intercept defenders would be flying against each other while charlie curnow and toby greene sit in a paddock and kick 15 each.

They might has well have put allir allir and jake lever in and called it the Loose Man in Defence Line.

While farcical, i reckon the selectors have improved slightly - theres no real darcy byrne jones battlers in the side this year. Theres howling ommisions, but at least everyone in the side had a decent case.

Plus they resisted the media love and the geelong premium of putting Greg-brian myers in.

I listened to a podcast the other day with Joey Montagna and Nick Riewoldt about the selection process. Interesting to hear from someone who was previously on the panel. Sounds like those with the best debating skills will win out when it comes to the vote. Joey was spot on in his assessment - he had Dustin Martin in his 22 but suspected the selectors would leave him out.

How's about this instead...

Knob of Cornes expression is a classic.... probably was told by the producer you have to do this segment arsewipe!

Stewart has now been All-Australian more times (5) than Dusty has (4). Tells you all you need to know…
Whilst I think Tom Stewart is a *smile* and always will I have come to realise he is a very very good footballer and don't necessarily begrudge him his AA places. He is elite both one on one and reading the play.

Dusty should have been selected in every side since about 2012. He is the most flexible and damaging attacking force in the AFL. When you are talking about picking an elite team I don't really understand how he can be left out? And aren't we talking about a representative team that performs when the pressure is at its greatest because you are hypothetically picking a team of the best to play the best? So you want players who are known performers when the pressure is at its greatest?

Toby Greene is the only player forward of the ball who compares with dusty for impact at critical times. Charlie Cameron?? Please, when has Charlie lifted his side to a win in a critical game? Rozee? Yeh, had a fine season but what's his big game performance history? Two finals in 2021 - no impact. Two finals in 2020. The prelim against tigers did OK.

Probably a waste of time thinking about it but it does appear crazy he has less AA's than so many inferior players.

So many are from bottom ten sides. The bench are all from ordinary sides.

Can Sicily actually defend? He can rack them up, but when teams make him accountable he struggles.
Na, Sicily is a gun. Very good one on one. Brilliant with ball. Star.

The side put together on the back of the media.
The narrative all weekend was 'Greene has to be captain' so he selected as captain. Just as Bomtmytelly is voted as the captain of the year.
All selector's are one eyed and have there favourites.
How Stewart gets selected in front of Sammy Taylor or Andrews from Brisbane is unbelievable.
How Merrett is selected in front of Martin or Neale is a head scratcher
Basically by next weekend not many will remember the team selected.
The only thing that really counts in footy these days (the brownlow is *smile* too) I'd that Silver Cup.

Get Jack on the AA committee and Dusty will be making the team until he's 40. Jack hinted before they threw to the awards that Dusty wasn't selected. He said something along the lines of "No matter what happens, Dustin Martin's season is the most underrated this year."
