Another straight out of the anti vaxxers playbook. Are you meaning this in numbers or proportionally? Clearly when 94% of the population is vaccinated, the sheer number of cases will weight to them. In every single metric we have ever been given, the unvaccinated are disproportionately weighted.
My point is the Vax won't prevent you passing covid to grandma. Yes it will most likely prevent serious illness and for that reason alone you should get it but don't pretend it will stop the spread and that it's only the unvaxxed that are a health risk to the rest of us.

ive heard some pretty smart health people, in some well credential forums, estimate that;

a vaccinated person is 8 times less likely to give someone else Covid than an unvaccinated person, and

a vaccinated person is 18 times less likely to need ICU because of Covid than an unvaccinated person.

of course, Facebook will offer other data interpretations,

just as taxis and pubs and hairdressers do.

here's an idea:

unvaccinated people needing intensive care could be intubated in hair salons, taxis and pubs?

this way, people will be able to film it and post it on facebook,

plus little drowned babies and car accident teenagers will be able to get some intensive care in a hospital.

But if Grandma has a medical emergency she will be able to get timely and appropiate care if the health system isn't clogged up with unvaccinated people with serious Covid.

I find the below very interesting. Tassie have 8,356 infected and no one in ICU. 18 in hospital.

I wonder if it’s because there is no Delta Covid in the State?

If so it looks promising that if Delta is phased out that we won’t get too many more needing hospital treatment in Victoria.

Anecdotally I can tell you that in Victoria the percentage of COVID patients in ICU infected with Delta ICU compared with Omicron is much higher than the percentage COVIF patients with delta in ward beds in hospital, which is in turn higher than the percentage of people delta infected vs Omicron not in hospital.
Also the percentage of unvaccinated COVID patients is much higher in ICU than others in hospital and in turn that is higher than those infected but not hospitalised.
Not every patient is genetically tested to see which variant they have but this is extrapolated from sample testing.
I heard that from a leading epidemiologist in the health system

This is the thing that frustrates the *smile* out of me with anti-vaxxers: they either can't or won't grasp basic grade 6 maths concepts of probability and proportion. It ain't hard. Its like talking to a brick wall.

It’s part of the ingenious nature of Covid. Besides it’s physical or pathological effect, it solicits or draws out the inherent stupidity that exists amongst many as well.

In fact, it’s ability to prey on the mental and character deficiencies of humans may be it’s greatest strength.

Sigh . . . yep, some people, and it seems prevalent amongst the anti-vaxxers, just don't understand the maths do they? We just have to keep trying to explain this don't we.

So, here we go again, this article, which I have lost count of the times I have posted a link, explains it in terms even a RWNJ can understand - https://theconversation.com/most-co...ated-heres-why-that-shouldnt-alarm-you-163671

The evidence, as posted above, shows that vaccinated people are less likely to spread COVID, this is simply fact. The reduction in spread and the complication of having a new variant is still being studied but the fact is vaccinated people are less likely to spread COVID.

Of course we don't know the actual number of people being infected at the moment, why? Because we don't have enough tests. The government surely couldn't have known about this and done nothing? Well, actually, here's a quote from an infectious diseases specialist who met with MPs (including some from the coalition) in August of 2021:

Dr Liljeqvist said he warned members of government that the PCR-testing system would soon "not be able to cope" with Australia's growing case numbers and the government should quickly shift to rapid testing.

"Not only could [RAT supply issues] be predicted, it was predicted," Dr Liljeqvist said.

"I'm pretty confused because all we could see was a head-in-the-sand approach from government … I don't know why they protected the PCR-testing system for so long and it's been detrimental to us that that system was kept longer than it could cope."

Full article here: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01...re-warned-that-testing-wouldnt-cope/100750252

Is the LNP government asleep at the wheel or just grossly incompetent? Either way they have to go.

Nice straw man there.

Where did anyone say that being vaccinated "prevents" passing on the virus? Nowhere. Vaccines reduce the spread, it does not prevent it. But keep deliberately making arguments against claims which were never made, it just shows the weakness of your argument.

This thing is spreading like wildfire. Reckon the real figure is 5 to 10 times more than what is being reported. Most people I know has Covid in their household now.
That's what you get for hanging around anti-vaxxers

Who leaked their conversation though
Trouble seems to follow Bec nowadays. I wonder if they'll get in trouble for it. Her return to Ch 7 news still looks a bit shaky IMO.

Some *smile*'s lost their job at Ch 7 for recording and leaking this.

Yep, that's a tactic they use.

The other I have seen lately is to use Omicron data to question what happened during Delta and other variant lockdowns

" Look what happens when we open up, hardly anyone dies. We wasted all that time being locked down" .

Try and point out that it was Delta and the majority of the population were unvaccinated and you get stony silence, or abuse.
