Is mask wearing in Melb is practically non-existent now? I'm heading down for a 4 week stint in Melbourne and wondering whether to pack the masks...
Pretty much.

The odd person here and there wear them but the vast majority are mask free.

Sorry that you've got it again Red.
Be interesting how badly affected you are by it.
I had a second bout just before Xmas & it was far milder than the case I had in last January when I'd only had 2 shots (have had 4 now).
Slight symptoms but was over it in a couple of days. The flu on the other hand knocked me for 6 in July after I'd had a flu shot too.
Thanks buddy.

So far (early days) I’ve just got a very very minor stuffy, runny nose, tiny bit tired, tiny bit warm in bed last night. Couple of sneezes. The odd cough. Basically nothing though so far. I even had 4 beers last night !! Haargh haargh haargh…

Started pretty mildly the last time though too before symptoms got worse and I lost my taste for 3 weeks.

We’ll see.

Well as long as you don’t lose your taste for beer ….. now that would be life threatening. Take it easy and rest up.

Test positive to whatever strain before Xmas (closer to start of December). Was the first time I had it - I've had 3x vax shots.

Symptoms were pretty mild overall, cough that last for 2 weeks or so, fatigue for 3-4 days. I did however have these super migraine style headaches, which were at the
top of my skull, right near my crown. They were horrible and lasted for the first 3 days. I've got to wonder what it was doing to my brain as I've
never had a headache there before. Maintained my taste buds (could have done with losing them for a couple of weeks!).

I'm no epidemiologist, but I'd read one of them stating that the virus will mutate to keep itself alive, and one of the things it will do is mutate over time so as not to kill the host (because then it can't survive). I'm oversimplifying the paper, but basically it was his argument that it will eventually become less likely to be fatal, but be something that is a massive p.i.t.a that won't go away in society. Hopefully that's the case...

I survived four short flights recently (Ballina-Syd, Syd-Melb, Melb-Syd, Syd-Ballina). Wore a mask for the first two, didn't wear one for the Melb-Syd leg because I was in premium economy with a row to myself. On flight #4 I was again in premium, in a window seat, with an empty seat between me and the bloke on the aisle. I didn't have a mask on until a woman walking past to her seat deadset turned and coughed directly on him! He commented on it in a bit of shock but remained maskless. I put one on.

Take care, old fella. At your advanced age it could turn serious quicksmart.

A medical specialist that my wife see told her that in the 6 months since she saw him last, he'd had Covid, pneumonia & The flu. Said the flu had by far the worst affect on him.
My wife also had it & was very sick with it, took her 5 weeks to get over it.

Well, if you can handle it at your further advanced age Methusala that bodes well I suppose. Although at your age and with your alzheimers, you get access to a 5th booster which helps I guess.
