Coronavirus

If NSW can keep their numbers steady and hopefully reduce while keeping the economy opened over the next month, we must consider doing the same mid November with the same plans in place.

NSW health seem to be jump on clusters in a more robust way, then we do. Let’s copy their way of doing things if they are working and open up to the same extent.
Andrews did send some people to NSW to learn how they handle things. Don't know if anything has changed as a result.

11 again, persistent around 10, seems hard to get it lower. Interestingly we had 11 cases yesterday and NSW had 12, must be months since Victoria wasn't the state with the highest new case number. Not great but both states have very low numbers.

Looking at the international numbers on the Johns Hopkins site they are high and it looks like the USA will just keep rolling along with somewhere around 40,000 to 50,000 new infections a day, Brazil looks bad and Europe is certainly having a lot of cases at the moment and rising. Doesn't look like this will end any time soon.

Here's what Victoria looks like now:

To put some perspective on the numbers I'm going to paste the last 14 days below, while the 14 day average is dropping very slowly at the moment, the shorter periods of 5 and 7 days are sitting around 10 with little rises and falls:

DateNew Infections7 Day Trailing ave5 Day Centred ave14 Day Trailing ave
25 September 20201214.5711.4024.50
26 September 20201615.0011.0022.71
27 September 2020514.1410.4020.93
28 September 2020911.4310.8018.79
29 September 20201010.868.6016.57
30 September 20201411.299.4015.79
1 October 2020510.149.6012.93
2 October 202099.719.2012.14
3 October 2020108.869.4011.93
4 October 202089.299.4011.71
5 October 20201510.149.8010.79
6 October 202059.4310.0010.14
7 October 2020119.0010.14
8 October 2020119.8610.00

14 day average for the whole of Victoria down to 10 so under 10 for Melbourne. But the numbers need to fall a little more to get this under 10.

Can't seem to add a header title with the new layout, I figure teething problems.

Yes 100 % that is what she is saying.
As anyone with any non bias has known already , she has stated the creeping assumption explanation is rubbish.
She has laid the blame for the decision to use security guards squarely at Andrews feet.
As I have previously said, will be fascinating to see what follows.
Media is very week and bent over in Victoria. We will see.
We will see but Jenny Mikakos will do anything to avoid accepting any blame for anything. She is the expert at throwing anyone under the bus to deflect from her appalling record as Health Minister. She did it the whole time she was in the job and it is why she was so unpopular in the sector.

That’s interesting to hear.
She comes across as naive but genuine . Not reassuring to the public to find the above. Just politics I guess when all said and done. Difficult to sort factional fighting from facts.

Yes. Whether she is right or wrong in this case there were very few in the sector who were sad to see her go.

This sounds like a first world problem, but I really wanna get down to the mornington peninsula to mow the lawns at my partners holiday house. I haven't mowed the lawns since June and I'm starting to worry its gonna turn into a fire hazard. long grass is also a sign for potential criminals that no one has been there in a while and we have a lot of valuables down there. Starting to get a bit antsy about it.
Cannot get a Jims bloke to do it for you?Dan would not be too concerned about your plight unfortunately for you and many others in similar situations.

The CHO master stroke was to set a an arbitrarily low target. Gives him the whip hand and a seemingly objective reason to keep restrictions in place and an excuse for any shortcomings in his department.

I also make the point that the restrictions are not just about health v economy debate but the detriment to Society/ Community whatever you want call the essentials and desirables of human existence. (eg I could argue family visits and children's activities are as important as reopening the local $2 dollar shop or being able to have my kitchen renovated)

Crisp knows where the bodies are buried and Andrews is afraid to sack him. Is this The End for Chairman Dan?
I watched the Peta Credlin line of questioning this morning from yesterday. Crisp should currently should be suspended under the guidelines of his role. Why would he put himself in this position?

Geez, it sure is looking difficult to get the numbers further down. Little flare up here or there and they stay around 10. Won't be seeing too many changes to the restrictions next week if this keeps up.

Here's what it looks like:

Plus, some numbers:

5 October 20201510.149.4010.79
6 October 202059.439.4010.14

8 October 2020109.439.79
9 October 20201410.149.93

Just got to keep trying to get those numbers down.

Another 12 cases today. Very frustrating. I hope Dan Andrews has some positive news today regarding lifting of a few restrictions where it’s likely to be of very little risk.

This is sad. but unsurprisingly with what the lockdown is doing. It makes my heart break to see such a thing.
