again, the media have got it the wrong way around. They keep talking about the reaction of anti-vaxxers if they are rejected from businesses.

But what about the reaction of pro-vaxxers like myself? I won’t be frequenting any businesses that turns a blind eye to checking the vaccine status of customers. Modelling is predicting multiple thousands of cases per day by Xmas. When we reach that point, many people will be questioning whether or not it is worthwhile going to the local for a pint. And they will wanna know if their local is a safe place to visit.

In addition, COVID is now a worksafe issue. So if businesses are breaking the rules, then they could be fined or shutdown. After 18 months being in and out of lockdown, do they really wanna risk this?

It would be easy to apply for those organisations. You have to pay your subs before you get a game at many clubs, simple proof of vax status will take 5 seconds.

do you know how easy it is to create your own Services Victoria QR code? My retired mum runs a part time mattress business (as a hobby) out of a storage unit. She was able to create one herself. And she’s not the most computer literate person in the world.

re testing .... there is drive in (non govt) site on Blackburn Road Mt Waverley near the freeway entry..... Never more than 3 cars,... and as you can go outside your 15km ring for a TEST (reason number 2) then you get to and from anywhere in Metro Melbourne rather then wait two hours in a line. And if you are like me driving anywhere these days seems like freedom (and I don't "like" driving simply in itself)

Or just reflects the spread of cases into the east? My brother said ABC news ran a segment last night that Monash and Whitehorse had both spiked on back on GF parties.

What volunteer organisation wants to take on the risk of someone catching COVID from an unvaccinated member of the organisation?

Anecdotal but today this site had a queue of 40 cars mid morning and about the same just now .... there was a spike last Monday too, ..... is there a weekly testing regime in place ? Or just reflects the spread of cases into the east? My brother said ABC news ran a segment last night that Monash and Whitehorse had both spiked on back on GF parties.

I wonder if the spike in the Casey region is also due to GF parties, being as Melbourne are affiliated with the Casey Demons.

There is another issue that will have to be dealt with. What does a business do when an unvaccinated person with a legitimate medical exemption wants to come back to work? Those working with that person will quite legitimately not want to risk working with an unvaccinated work colleague.

I'd also be asking on what grounds they claim the medical exemption, there is plenty of absolute rubbish being thrown around as reasons people claim they can't get vaccinated. Just as an example, my partner's brother has epilepsy, MS and recently had a fall and now has some dementia. He went and got the vax quickly because of his health issues. Most people with medical conditions need to be vaccinated as soon as possible, not avoid getting vaccinated.

Updated numbers per LGA today. More focus needs to now go to the Yarra City and Melbourne urgently. Once we are open a huge amount of foot traffic will be going through these areas close to the beach, MCG and events. Really need local leaders to step up here.

Regional Victoria despite being less impacted with being in lockdown lite has a lot higher vaccination records. This is not what I thought would happen 6 months ago.

Estimates are that something like 1 in 2000 or so will meet the criteria set for legitimate medical exemptions. The amusing anti-vaxxers are those that tell you they have a pre-existing condition and would rather not get vaccinated because they've read the vaccine could be riskier for them. When pushed on what specifics risks, it's normally an "in general" statement that the vaccine could be riskier.

Quite frankly, if you have a pre-existing condition, that's the reason to queue jump / bribe / *smile* your way to the front of the vaccination line to get your jabs.

Many GPs give out medical certificates incredibly easily so they will probably do the same with medical exemptions for vaccinations, which is why health employers are not accepting them

I think tomorrow will be the first day since the end of August that the 7 day average will go down. It might go up again for the next day or two, then hopefully the trend will start to head downwards.

The rate of increase of the 7 day average has been slowing since around the 5th October, after the "grand final spike". Once the increase becomes a decrease, the 7 day average will probably (hopefully) halve every 3 weeks, based on a combination of NSW figures, and Victorian from figures last year.
