Just watching highlights of a 1987 ODI between Aus and Eng.

Dean Jones made 100+. He was such an awesome batsman - underrated I reckon.

It's not just BBL form, Stoinis has played in 4 shield games this season with scores of 80,81, and 85. He's an ok bowler. M Marsh has been given plenty of chances, can't see why Stoinis shouldn't be given a go.

TM, Like TT, I don't have a problem at all with his Shield form (which is great) but you're trying to give credence to the BBL rubbish. No.

Looks like he has no chance of playing any more shield this year which is a bloody shame.

Shield form should be the main criteria, and Stonis has combined that with good BBL form and reasonable ODI form. I think it's reasonable that he should be strongly considered for test selection.

Stunning partnership from Wade and Short tonight but Wade isn't good enough for Australia ::)

Crazy he isn't. Is a no brainer he goes to the World Cup instead of Carey.

And for all the talk about Maxwell. Short is far stiffer not to be both white ball teams.

Stoinis another 50 for the Stars against the Strikers, after getting 70 last Saturday.

Edit.

And 3 wickets to go with his 50.

Test side has been announced Pucovski misses out, Burns, Patterson and Richardson are playing.

Marcus Harris, Joe Burns, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, Kurtis Patterson, Tim Paine (c/wk), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Jhye Richardson, Nathan Lyon.

Head is the anointed one for some reason. I don't see it, limited player who can't hack the short stuff.

Has been identified as a leader within the ranks by selectors i think was the word or something to this effect I heard today.

Labushagne shouldnt be playing, and i would prefer Tremain over Richardson (though Richardson isnt a bad pick) but in the circumstances not a bad team.

Yes i'm a fan of Tremain, but i don't mind Richardson either.

Shame Pucovski didnt get a gig.
It is. They must really rate Labuschagne's leggies.

Richardson has played himself into the World Cup squad and if he goes ok in these Tests, The Ashes. He's an all-round talent, swings the ball at good pace, fields well, and is potentially a better batsman than Pat Cummins.

The top six have collectively made 4308 Test runs.
Last time that statistic was as low as that was during the Packer era - 5th Test in Kolkata of the 1979-80 series where the corresponding number was 4233.

Match drawn. It’s not a bad Australian line up considering Packer had Laird, T, I, G Chappell, Lillee, Marsh, Thompson, Bright, Pascoe, Walker, Wessells, McCosker, Hookes, Kent, Gilmour, Malone, Langer, Davis, O’Keefe, Redpath, Walters, Robinson, Prior and Mallett.

About 45 players represented Australia in test/super test cricket over that 2 year period, the equivalent of having 4 different teams.
