As a long term supporter, three finals series in a row is feeling like a dynasty. After so long I am wrapped that we are no longer a laughing stock and when i look at carlton and melbourne I feel a lot of empathy for their supporters. But I am so glad that it is not us any more who are the joke of the AFL.

the big joke is fitzroy have won more finals games than us since our last premiership , this acceptance of mediocraty from us is why , dimma is still there after 3 successive finals losses , graeme richmond would not of put up with those failures

I get the point, but after so many years of being absolute rubbish being average feels pretty good.

Oh god the obligatory Graeme Richmond reference.

Yeah the man the man who refused to put up with mediocre performances.
According to Tony Jewll THE driving force in richmonds golden era.

If only we had someone like Graeme at the club right now.
There would be no Hardwick thread coz he'd be long gone.

I'd even settle on Mark Riccuito.
A guy like Graeme Richmond who has both football smarts and balls to act.
Unlike Benny and Dan who will be looking down the barrel very shortly.

Do yourself a favour Antman read your tiger history.

Three final series?
You mean three elimination final defeats.
How could anyone be remotely content with that?

No longer a laughing stock?
The brain trust are talking of extending Hardwicks contract after 3 successive coaching failures in finals.
If we reappoint him and fail to make the finals next year or bomb out yet again in Sept, we will be the laughing stock of the league.
Deservedly so.

I've read it dude. It was Graeme Richmond's single minded pursuit of John Pitura, that nearly buggered us in the mid '70s (read what Hafey said) and then his (and others) revenge fantasies that led to the trade wars with Collingwood that made us shyte for the 80s. This was followed by the "zero-tolerance of mediocrity" that meant we sacked the coach every 18 months for the rest of the 80s and into the 90s.

Graeme Richmond did great stuff for us in the 1970s when all you needed was a take-no-*smile*, head-kicking attitude and when we had more money and clout than any other club bar the one down Hoddle Street. Those days are long gone my friend. Those ways of running a club and recruiting don't work any more. You may have read your tiger history, but you clearly haven't understood it.

McCrae - D grade??

To clear up my post I meant even if McRae and Ferguson turn out to be D grade.

Hard to tell with Macrae because he hasn't really coached his own side although the fact that clubs keep moving him on might be an indication.

We'll find out soon enough.

Oh right.
Let's bag him for the Pitura trade and conveniently forget about the million other things he got right.

You seem to give Hardwick and Benny a very good run yet their football smarts compared to Graeme Richmond arn't even in the ball park.
Graeme got most of his football decisions right.

What we lack at the club right now is quality decision makers in the football department right now.
Dan Richardson and Benny Gale arn't up to it IMO.

The Port list that win them 5 games in 2012 (and 3 in 2011)? The RFC list won 5 games in 2009.

And 11 in 2008. Hinkley inherited a much worse list and in fact it's probably still worse.

Hardwick first three years:

6 wins 8 wins 10 wins Zero finals wins

Hinkley first three years

12 wins 14 wins 12 wins 3 finals wins

Pretty unambiguously better with a list that won only 8 games in the previous two years as opposed to 16.5 wins for Richmond when Hardwick took over.

OK....not guilty.

Not sure about clubs moving him on. I also had doubts on McCrae, however he's done well as development coach for about 10 years which would be a good prerequisite for stepping up to become a VFL coach.

Like I clumsily said earlier he cant be worse than Clarke. Hopefully he does OK.

Ferguson apparently impressed last season.

I said he was great for us in the 70s, but his methods failed in the early 80s, and an attempt to keep doing it like GR did screwed us royally for the rest of the 80s. You seem to not want to talk about it though.

What we lack at the club right now is quality decision makers in the football department right now.

FYI Benny's not in the football department, but he's been a great CEO so far.

If you want to try and emulate the mess of the 80s and 90s by pursuing the "Ruthless Richmond" way, good luck to you, but it ain't gonna happen.

We have become a boys club like Melbourne, by keeping people in a job like dimma and looking after our mates dimma should not be offered anything unless he can take us to a prelima ary final
Deservedly so.
