Damien Hardwick

Is it really O’Donnell? If so that’s embarrassing.
He's deranged if that's him.

Come and see us when you're worthy lol

were not worthy waynes world GIF

We don’t really have anyone who plays or can play that run with role. The only player capable of running defensively with Neale was probably Jack Graham.

I reckon Broady has the speed and stamina to be a run with player but his particular skills are needed elsewhere on th apark

O’Donnell on Twitter claiming that Hardwick was going home to Essendon.
poor Gary still reflects on the 95 Turner hit in his Richmond Tweets.
Another fken Drongo.
Hardwick wouldn't *smile* on Essendon if they were on fire.
They way they treated him

So if all goes to plan, in the off season we pick up Taranto and Hopper and squeeze them into a midfield that consists of a magnificent, but injury prone, Dion Prestia, an ageing deity who has overseen the best football watching years of my life in Trent Cotchin, the perspective re-emergence of the Tiger King -Dusty, the heir apparent -ShaiB, with cameos from warrior Jack Graham and the emerging other Jack. Is there anyone I’m forgetting? Shorty and Bakes if the coaches wish to persevere…

We have a backline full of warriors that leaks way too many goals and a forward line that is intimidating in scoring potential, but often found wanting in pressure and defensive intensity. The best tall forward in the league (when he’s fit) and the remnants of a genius, the beating heart of our forward line for the last 10 years, dealing with a body that no longer does what he wants it to do.

In some ways an embarrassment of riches, but in others, a vexing conundrum.

How do we get all the pieces to fit? How do we make the sum of parts greater than the individuals?

Over to you Dimma.

Dimma was bold in his coaching this year.

Relinquished a healthy measure of defensive integrity in order to fully capitalise on the stand rule and the ridiculous ease in which the ball can be conveyed in today’s footy.

We have two players forward of the ball who drench themselves in score involvements - Bolton and Martin. Game plan essentially revolves around winning the ball back off-stoppage and getting it into their hands.

Nothing much will change tactically next year - expect the heavy scoring to continue. We’ll put an extra man behind the ball after the first stoppage like we always do.

What WILL change is midfield starch. With our recruits we won’t be allowing oppo transition from stoppage as easily as we did in 2022.

Prestia won’t be as critical, Cotchin can be a pinch hitter like Selwood.

If much-needed midfield steel results in a 2-4 goal against differential, watch out.

Bank early wins and top four is absolutely an expectation.

Hardwick is no goose. He was planning for 2023. This was just the experiment. He knew the midfield reinforcements were coming. Plus he knows which kids can help with this regeneration. The quicker we get Gibcus, MRJ, Cumberland and Sonsie to 50 games the better we will be.

Agree but in reality the smallest, meagre increase in goals scored for the tigs, ie just 1 extra teeny weeny goal a game would have given us 4 extra wins plus a draw plus a finals victory, so your prediction of the impact these two GWS should send us close to top 2.

And will should expect some organic internal growth from our youth as well.
