Some Richmond draft rumours from various sources:
* we’re looking to trade out our first pick for one in 2021
* We’ve been linked with tall forwards Matt Allison & Liam Kolar
* We’re interested in Essendon academy players Eyre & Brand
Wouldnt mind Brand as a later pick , friends son knows people who either know him or know people (yeah i know) who have said alot of clubs have talked with him. Not sure its us though but seems to be a good prospect

Maybe if the players we want aren't there, we trade with the Pies ( :vomit). Pick 17 and our 2nd next year for their 1st next year and 1 of their picks between 65 and 68. Those picks will come in a little and several of those players you suggest above may well be on the board at those picks still

Can't see the Pies trading out a top 5 draft pick from next years draft.

I'm hoping the Pies bravado has them thinking they will still make finals :D Then we take their top 5 draft pick next year and draft the new Jack with it. Perfection :D

No, we got pumped by the Cats the next week........enough said about that game.

I always remember after that game that the media jumped on Geelong and claimed they could beat Carlton . . . who hadn't lost a game for about 6 months. Couldn't believe it, and Carlton duly went on to win the GF. I didn't think we were that good so didn't rate Geelong's win that highly and Carlton owned 1995. Knew we were below the level of the top teams then but hoped we could develop and get better, then came the weird coach swap and the rest is bad history.

I still remember we sang our song loud as we walked down the ramps at the end of the game.
It felt like we all shared the pain of losing and yet buoyed by having won a final and made it so far.
Kinda of a You,ll never walk alone moment.

It was Ablett, again, who destroyed us so it was acceptable.
So much hope for the future. How wrong it was.

Trading for pies 1st in 21 would be ideal.
Imagine that joy from watching them lose each week, just a little bit more happiness than normal.

They want to trade because the daicos boy is good. It will be interesting to see how they rate themselves for next year

I've removed Davies from these ratings as he's prelisted by GCS. He's not in the draft. Twomey rates him 16.

Edit and now Joel Jeffrey also prelisted. (Thank you to @King Kong.)

Edit again and thank you to @caesar for the Gulden and Downie information. Amended.

We might bid on Gulden. And then, if you allow for the two GCS preselections, our pick 17 has become pic 24.

Collingwood must bid on McInnes. So he slips if he reaches them. Then we have to bid. And they match.
The guide post 15 picks is such a mixed bag. No wonder we have no idea who the club will pick.
AFL draft central has Nathan ODriscoll rated at #14, and he was rated #10 in October. Since then he went to the combine and , quote,
"returned some outstanding results across the board at the WA Draft Combine; namely a 6:23 2km time, and 2.931 seconds over 20 metres"
I would be happy with him

Essendon fans think they’re going to get Pies first next year AND their pick 14 in exchange for pick 8 and not bidding on McInnes. Bit of Dodoritis going on there...

Personally I reckon it’s a good move letting it be known that we’re prepared to consider trading this pick - there’s likely to be some highly rated midfielders available here (O’Driscoll? Powell? Carroll?) that other teams would be keen to get hold of. So we could trade this for a 2021 second and a pick in the 30’s or 40’s this year, which would be a good range for some of the KPPs we’ve been linked with. North might be interested if they go tall with their early picks (Thilthorpe/McDonald and/or Chapman/Cox) and their 2nd next year would almost be a 1st. Could do some shuffling of other picks (give them back a 3rd?) to make it fair. Then with our 36 and newly acquired 41 we could go Callow/Kolar/Allison/Essendon NGAs.

Ideally we trade for an early pick in a future draft, eg the pies in 21, but of course most clubs want to do the same and most dont want to trade out.

So its not a bad plan to target norths 2nd.
They get to say they have gained a 1st (good media) and we get picks we value

When you've won 3 of the last 4 flags the last thing you do is follow others that are below you.
We have a pretty damn good list as it stands and as much as we will need to replace some of the key positions in a year or 2 I think our list has most of our talent needs already.
If clubs want to buy into next year then we should be selling, get higher in this years draft and ensure we get exactly what we want and continue to build now not tomorrow.

Hows this for a thought and completely different to other teams

* Trade out of the first 2 rounds #17 + #34 + #61 for a 1st rounder around 6-12 next year
* Only take MRJ as the 1 pick
* Upgrade Pickett ,Aarts,Chol,Baker,Miller all onto senior list (leaving rookie list completely empty)
* Draft 5 rookie KPP only for 1 year and see how they go

This way we can delist in 1 year which are not upto it and have a loaded hand for 2021 with
2 x 1st rounders
2 x 2nd rounders
2 x 3rd rounders

Good idea in theory. It may depend on how it affects the salary cap Turk. Is there a rule about 1st time draftees getting a minimum of 2 years on the rookie list?
