If it's for this season only - and that it's based on catering for the possibility that games might still need to be played at more than one per 7 days - I'm OK with that.

I'd prefer they used entire squads & rested players for the odd game if needed than shorten games by 20%. You've got 40 players currently on a list to use with no VFL for heaven sake. Guarantee this is something that they'll look to implement beyond this season once it's introduced & that means less bang for buck for all members.

I bet Geelong are preparing to meet 2 Melbourne clubs at their home venue for the first time in over 20 years.
Essendon and Collingwood will visit GHMBA Stadium this season.
All thanks to Steve 'the snake' Hocking

Talk of crowds returning. Would they require each to have the COVID tracking app and temp check?

Typical but may not help this season. I’m expecting the Cats to fall way.

Great news.

I suspect it wouldn't be lawful to force the app?

but I'd get it in a heartbeat to go watch the tigers.

My local pool has reopened for laps and you have to give them your phone number, which I've got no drama with

I suspect more details when the official fixture is announced today.

I would download it if it meant I could watch my team.

Maybe long term they may try and implement changes in order to facilitate playing more games down the track, under the guise of having fair draw everyone plays each other twice.

I'm as critical of the AFL as anyone on PRE, but that will never happen in a squillion years. I can see a league with 19 or 20 teams where everyone plays each other once and an expanded finals series.

In addition, I don't think broadcasters can afford to pay more money for TV rights. Foxtel is on its knees, ch 7 has been struggling financially and advertising revenue has dropped dramatically in recent years.

FWIW - I'm not happy with 60 secs after a goal - and I'd prefer a shorter break at half-time.
A soccer match is usually finished in 2 hours - but ours have taken 2hrs 40 mins

If I was making this decision, I would drop quarters down to 18 minutes and let the clock run down 3 seconds for every stoppage. This would make quarters run from about 30-31 minutes to 26-27 minutes. I would chop half time to 12 minutes. This would reduce game time from first bounce to final siren by 25 minutes.

Playing West Coast at Metricon is a bonus for us. Beats playing them in Perth.

Now I just need to work out how I can sneak in to the ground!
