Golf

That column style leaderboard takes up too much room. The teams event is chintzy, meaningless rubbish. Get rid of it. Shorts are good. Sergio misses putt and gets heated !

David Feherty looks ill ?

I was the same but I'm finding the column and teams events are growing on me as the events go on. Think I'm the only one with the column though.

Think Feherty is just a pasty looking bloke, no booze in him to add colour now either. Bubba Watson is the worst on course commentator since Greg Ritchie.

Nice to have LIV on in prime time again.

Coverage is still slick, commentators still trying to find the balance between being a bit less stuffy than normal golf and coming across as complete knobs.

Not sure about shorts yet either, just doesn't look right.
Where do you watch LIV guys?

MW Lee striping it early. Jeez he hits a nice ball and gun short game.

Unfortunately, much like Cameron Davis or Lucas Herbert at this stage, just can't keep the heat on at the pointy end. But MWL seems to be making real progress to me. I mean a record front 9 (I think it was) at the Masters back in April. His short game is very strong and, as you say, hits a nice, and long, ball.

But narrowly missed some vital putts after almost blasting one driver oob just after a birdie run. Did the same at Espana de Open. But pretty stiff too, coming up against a Rahm wrestling with his battling form until exploding into his absolute best in Rd.4 in front of his huge home crowd.

Then this time, MWL seems to lose it in Rd.3 when accompanied by the 2 Spaniards. Probably tough in front of another very keen home crowd.
However, final rd at Valderamma overnight, Otagei plays almost foolproof golf. However, he is actually some kind of a refugee from LIV with questions re his eligibility for DP events.
Unlucky for MWL - although he did come 3rd both events, he was the most likely challenger until the blow-up shots, loss of momentum. But only 24 so promising efforts.

Dunno about Herbert not keeping the heat on at the pointy end. It’s hard to win and he won twice last year - the Irish Open and the Bermuda.

Yes, I know, I'm sure they said the same about MWL during these Spanish events - that he'd won 2 x DP events, but I can only remember the Scottish Open in '21. (Hold on. It must have been the Vic Open a few years back, it was a Euro Tour event via sponsors. Handa or someone?)

Anyway, don't worry, I like Herbie too and rate his game, both long and short, to be capable. But from my observations, MWL might be developing into a more threatening player a little faster. I mean going with Rahm for 3 rounds recently is not bad going.

But expect both will struggle to produce the consistency to win a big tour event over 4 rds until gain more hard experience. Incidentally, Jed Morgan seems to be progressing far better since going with LIV too. Thought he was way off the pace.

I think longer term, MWL may, possibly go past Herbie Goes Bananas. Herbie has a few faults in that swing and it’s a killer short game that’s offsetting that a bit. But he’s had a few mental demons Herbie and I dunno how long his short game will hold him up for. Who knows. MWL just seems to have a more technically correct and all round game that’s continuing to develop. As they say in horse racing “a progressive type”.

Is it unheard of to get a golf club membership from a complete other town/city because of reciprocal club benefits?

My local golf club that I play with charges about $750 for a membership. I only play 18 holes socially with friends so don't care about comp.

A reciprocal club 70kms away from me offer a membership for $350, but the reciprocal benefit at my local club is $0 green fees.

I've only just started playing in the last 12 months so am terrible but coming into the warmer months i'll end up playing a couple times a week so $350 would be a bargain.

Careful. They’ll put a limit on how many times you can use your reciprocal rights.

I used to be a member at club that was reciprocal with the NSW GC at a La Perouse in Sydney. When I had to go work in Sydney for a couple of years I started using my reciprocal rights. But after a couple of months they got sick of me turning up 4 times a week !

In the end I worked it out with NSW GC and it was ok, but just be wary.

Thanks Redford, appreciate the response, thats good to know.

The guys I play with are members of our club but don't check in when they want to play we all just wander out onto the course and start. They've never been checked so the course is extremely lax.

All I'd need is the ability to flash that I can play for free if I ever needed it.

Don’t you just love Freddy! That sweet languid swing is glorious.
Yer, sure has, but not sure about the personality or worldview. Didn't like him coming out and having shots at Cam Smith after he went LIV. Not because I take sides at all really. I just thought it showed the typical very Amero-centric worldview - the USA is the centre of the universe and everyone else can GAGF. ( We may, if we can be bothered and are willing to endure their crap weather, condescend to attend The Open, but otherwise we never need to leave these shores because the US PGA runs golf ... IS golf)!

Showed zero awareness of what it must be like for the Aussies who virtually have to give up their homeland to play over there, repatriate. Oz golf virtually wiped out by US hegemony.

Hmm......sounds like a real swinging type of party:giggle:
Unfortunately not although a pussy was involved. Tripped over the cat's toybox upon stumbling home after over-indulging ... just slightly. ;)

Could've been worse I guess, could've fallen into the kitty litter box :)
