Grand Final 2020 Thread Richmond Vs Geelong / Game Day Thread

After so many lean years. For so long we couldn’t make the finals let alone win one. The great Dusty Dimma and Cotchin have got us 3 flags in 4 years. You never get sick of winning these flags. I want 2021

After the end of the broadcast I sat down with a bottle of wine and watched the game again.
I’ve said it and many on here have said it too but when this team turns up the heat there is no side who can go with us. Watching the game again you can see it happen. Actually it happened in the last 5 minutes of the 1st half, that’s what gave them the belief I reckon. It was what happened in the 2nd quarter in 2019.
It is incredibly Impressive. A truly great team
I was around for the last back to back and much of it has been discussed in the Hafey years thread last week. In 45-50 years time there will be people posting of the greatness of this team as well.
I am so grateful to have seen both eras, and this one is not over yet !!

Jack you legend...just been reading the thread and I 100% know how you feel. Born and bred in Geelong till I moved to Melbourne at 21 for work. Copped absolute *smile* for ever going for the Tigers as a youngster (best mate did). All my family bar 1 brother go for Geelong. To be fair most have been pretty good, but to the few old mates I have not heard from for years just start texting me “ SUCK A *smile*”.

Especially you “DARRYN LYONS”...hated you at school and still hate you, you absolute FLOG !
I'm with you, BB. I hate that pr!ck Darryn Lyons too, and I don't even know the "smile"! :rotfl1

We got a gear that when we go up teams cannot keep up.I was saying to a relative if we bring the heat on to cats pressure and tackling intensity and tidy up our game watch them go in there shell and crumble and they did.

Will have to watch replay, but my first impression is that whilst we were irresistible in the second half, the Catters butchered what might’ve been an unassailable lead.

Still, woulda coulda shoulda. That’s for them to stew over.

Smashed the myth we are only good because of the mcg advantage, if we had lost , that would be used ,

Was good to eliminate it

For me, I have to admit that at half time I thought we were done.

At that stage was fed up with the wild kicks going to the opposition.

We were screaming at the telly saying "For god's sake have a look before you kick."

Irrational I know, but had to let off steam.

Still in a bit of a shock state this morning, but just so happy for all of us PREnders and supporters in general.

Also congrats Tiger team for yet another premiership.

Spot on. All away games, beating Port in SA in their home final. All that stigma goes. My mate a Crows supporter was always bitter of '17, best team, MCG, blah , blah, blah. he got a text from me today (in good fun). Winners are grinners & he acknowledged how good we are. LOL
off to buy the paper now

So there’s no Sunday footy shows on according to the TV guide. Good work...

What a great night at the GABBA that was! Myself and lil Mopsy were over the moon.

We were all at sea in defense after Vlossy went off, just couldnt get our match ups right.

At one point DTLD was manning Ablett for example, and it seemed they were generating mis-matches everywhere.

Credit to C. Scott for generating this.

The other noticeable thing was the Cats had a plus one in defense whereas we didnt.

Kudos to Dimma for what happened next.

From late in the 2nd qtr we finally got those defensive match-ups right. And the loose man in our forward line was eliminated by taking our extra man in the midfield to the fwd line and making the loose man accountable.

From here on it became a true man on man game, just like the good old days.

And from this point on the Tigers got the ascendency, and the rest as they say is history.

Cant finish this without acknowledging Dusty. He may not be the best player I've ever seen, but there has never been, nor will there ever be, a better big game player. What a priviledge to have watched him in action.

Great stuff Tigers, so happy to have witnessed this season in QLD.

This season has given us three special and blossoming talents, Balta, Bolton and Baker. They are all young and still learning but have been outstanding all season and not more so than tonight. With these three playing in yellow and black our future is assured and when you think of some of our other youngsters , exciting times ahead
Shorty now deserves to be recognised as a gun.

I was really concerned when they got to 22 pts up but after that goal by Dusty and the last few minutes of the 2nd qtr, I felt the momentum was swinging. And the rest is history.

Finally read through to the end of this GD thread.

I am still almost speechless. One of my greatest nights ever.

What a team. What a club. What a special player is Dusty. But love them all - full playing squad, all coaches, admin - for achieving this premiership.

A simply fantastic effort. Finally come down from the clouds enough to go to sleep. A very peaceful one.

Just delighted. Well done everyone on PRE too for their support. We did it.
Huge effort. The flag and getting through the whole GD thread. I am going to do that today. Start from page 38 and Relive the game with fan comments...

Yep they had us on toast half way through that second quarter. They missed some gettable goals. But that second half was all ours.
