Forget our 2017 & 2018 game plan with the 1 tall forward its not working anymore
How do we expect Lynch to be the sole tall in the forward line trying to mark against 3 defenders hanging off him?
Dusty or Caddy are not tall forwards than can bust the pack and take a mark
Need Lynch +1 other tall permanently in the forward line (Balta,Moore,Chol or CCJ) need to given a full game as a forward to give us another option
yeah caddy and dusty are not working forward.

We changed back to the 2016 game plan.

Do we need to change our assistant coaches again?

Caddy with a disrupted pre season will get better in the second half of the season and dusty is to good to keep playing so bad. i dont think the 2019 game plan is that bad we are half a step away from it . If we split the next 2 games we will be 5 and 4 with 13 to play . No reason we cant win 9 of 13 and give this years finals a decent shake

Our list isn’t suited to busting packs. Jack, Caddy, George etc outsmarted opposition defensive structures as a team. Can’t plan for it, can’t outsmart it. Every player utilised, every player important.

Tbh Jack has probably been more responsible for our forward line game plan than any of the official coaches. Let’s hope he can learn to be as influential as an off-field voice as he was on-field.

Moore/Chol/height is the only way to bust more packs... so I think we should try another method.

He has been filling holes but not always with like for like.

Short replaced by Stack. Tick actually an improvement.

Cotchin by Ross. Tick not an upgrade but best available.

Rance has essentially been replaced by Edwards, the leading score-goal assist player in the league. Ok for a week or two but not a long term option.

Ashbury was replaced by Menadue. We could afford to lose one 190cm back but not two. Pretty obvious we needed another tall down back.

Riewoldt by Bolton, Lynch is not Jack, he needs help. The shock benefit of a one tall toward line evaporated last year.

So we end up with Rioli playing taller than he should when he is already playing hurt. We end up playing Balta everywhere to try and cover height deficiency. We end up with too many linkup players on the ground with not enough contested ball winners to linkup.

This can work for a week or two but long term we have to replace like body types or we will end up with more injuries of our own making.

Hardwick has many times said that he prefers a short turn around to a longer one.

While not ignoring our flaws, I think they all forgot over the 10 or so days what it takes this team to win. They started reading their news articles. Prestia undid all his good work. They failed to show up last night.

No forward pressure at all, despite a plethora of midgets. And our midfield was on the backfoot all night.

One thing for sure is that the six-six-six exposes us big time when we are unable to compete in the middle.

Agree

if we don't start winning cente clearance, we will always be loading up from defence into a congested forward line, if we win the middle we have the fire power to take marks.

Definitely time to bring Edwards back up forward with stints in the middle

How many times has Prestia got his hands to a center clearance then decided to run around in circles before fluffing a kick or handpass. Very frustrating to watch.

Had an awesome day (out of) the box. For a guy who is often criticised for being stubborn & sticking to the process he made plenty of winning moves yesterday ( a few out of necessity admitedly) & I was pleased to hear Bolton say how much his communication was important on the bench. Big tick coach.

In his presser he credited the assistants with "coming up with a plan" after the Nankervis injury.

Leppa is the creative.

Broad forward/ruck would have been his.

Leppa and Dimma are like Jagger and Richards, except neither of them are really like jagger or Richards

This just demonstrates again what I/we/players like about him. He gives credit to others; doesn't seek attention selfishly. He shows humility and humour, doesn't much blame, sook or whinge. [Shows incredible restraint re the umpiring!!]

Respected all through the AFL world now.

Haha. I do like how Dimma credits his assistants. Being a head coach is bigger than coming up with ideas on game day in 2019.
