Simply moronic response. I think the guy blinded by bias is the one who has got NOTHING to argue when challenged. The post I rightfully attacked is incredibly ignorant and offensive to our VicGov contact tracers putting in enormous hours of effort to try and protect our community, including the likes of you.
As if you are not projecting your LP politics! Since I'm an avowed opponent of communism, it's just further stupidity to attempt to get mileage from the Comrade moniker. It's only used by communists to each other ... meaning you must be one or want to be. ;)
Doubt anyone's attacking the people actually trying to do the contact tracing. All the problems n issues stem from the mob of imbeciles n *smile* ant arse clowns that are running the circus.

Getting vaccinated doesn't actually stop you from either getting or transmitting coroner cooties.
It simply means that you should have enough antibodies in your system that the cooties might not make you as crook as not being vaccinated.
Great help for the old, frail n those already with ongoing health issues. Pretty irrelevant for the young fit n normally healthy.
Not quite. The vaccine reduces your ability to transmit substantially, but yeah, eventually someone unable to take the vaccine will probably get the virus. Also, to suggest only the old and frail are at substantial risk isn't accurate. If you're over 40, the threat is real, much higher than flu. Keeping Australia permanently isolated from the rest of the world however isn't really a viable solution. So Angry Ant is right - Vaccinate then resume normality. Yes, there will be victims, but what's the alternative?

Wrong, herd immunity also protects the elderly and those with co-morbidities, so it's absolutely relevant for young and healthy people as well. Yes it is possible to both catch and transmit covid while vaccinated but the R number falls rapidly towards zero as a population moves towards herd immunity.

And as that number falls, guess what... No need for lockdowns and other restrictions. As Merlino said, if the feds had met their vaccination targets, we may not be having this lockdown now.

But according to some of you vaccinations are low priority.

Young and healthy people also like having jobs, and higher vaccination rates mean more jobs. It also means you can open up those industries that are currently closed like tourism and hospitality. Vaccination rates have a very real effect on the economy. Why do you think the US and the UK are going so hard on it? Ask anyone who works in tourism.

Will post some links on this tomorrow.

Right - it could be I'm a bit bitter about the fact that if Australia was doing a semi-decent job of vaccine rollout it would be irrelevant! But you're right that now, with vaccine rates so low at home, it wouldn't be safe. But this is the thing - it will never be safe. The only thing that matters is vaccine rollout and I don't understand why there isn't outrage over how badly it's going. Governments have fallen for much less.

At some point the borders must open. Covid will be rife in Australia like it is elsewhere and those not vaccinated will be in danger. It's a bugger for those that can't vaccinate for health reasons, and it will be a cull of the stupid for anti-vaxxers. It's inevitable and unavoidable, so get on with it.
The government has declared it intends to open in mid-2022, so there’s certainly not a race to get vaccinated.

There are travel arrangements with New Zealand and the government has looked at making similar deals with countries with low incidence. Maybe it’s expecting it’ll be another 12 months before the rest of the world is relatively safe to let in.

We don’t want to let carriers in, vaccination or no vaccination. We need the rest of the world to beat it down.

That's the spirit. Let's sit back and wait for the rest of the world to solve the problem for us. The developing countries should be fully vaxxed in 3-4 years, we can wait.

What a complete and utter bunch of clowns run the Peoples Republic of Danistan.

How anyone could reelect these criminals last time just goes to show the IQ of alot of people in this state.

4 lockdowns, 95% of all covid deaths, the education of hundreds of thousands in tatters, businesses destroyed, enormous debt, the mental destruction of so many, and none of the losers in power will take any responsibility.....but think its a good ides to put a drug injecting room right in the middle of a battered and destroyed city!

HANG YOUR HEADS IN SHAME YOU UTTER F...WITS!!!!!!

You have utterly destroyed what was once a great city.

Yeah, I appreciate you're one of few being generally reasonable here - but that's never going to happen. It's not even part of the strategy.

We're well into 'vaccine up and every man for himself' territory here in the US and Europe is opening their borders under the same assumption. And this is my point. The world is moving on and opening up, but the government seems oblivious.

I'm a progressive by any measure. I applauded and was proud of Australia's efforts during 2020 - but assumed the goal was to get to the point of a vaccine, efficiently roll it out (which I though was right in our wheelhouse and would be done in weeks) and open up before anyone else and lead the way.

Now it appears there's a leisurely stroll in this direction. It's going to end in economic and social disaster if something a bit more aggressive isn't done soon. So disappointing.

Where should they put it?
Hows about next to where they live?
Or up their f...ing collective arses!

Not where people are already struggling to make a living.

They have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are not politicians, they are lying criminals.

Put it this way, the UK is down to about 3.5K daily infections and I reckon the Australian government would consider that too high. I expect we’ll be opening up on a country by country basis, possibly early spring rather than winter.

No we can't change the date, ScoMo has his roadmap and that's set in stone. No point speeding up or slowing down.

Also vaccination is low priority. Apparently.

Yeah the date can move based on medical advice.

At the moment it's not a high priority. Maybe they can hand out JB Hi-Fi vouchers with injections or something.

You’ve gotta laugh at some of the decisions. No Apple store for our fair city, but druggos welcome. It’s almost like they’re trying to deter visitors.
Its a side issue but maybe no Apple shop but drug injecting rooms is less about visitors and more about the people who live in Melbourne.
Just a thought
