Kane Lambert

Normally he runs so hard forward of the ball that oppo can't keep up. Not sure why he's so ineffective this year

I would say it's a combination of two things.
Firstly, for the majority of the year we haven't had Cotchin, Prestia, Edwards, Nankervis being able to move the ball ahead of the contest to where Lambett likes to move. He is still running and working as hard as ever it's just we haven't had the manpower to get our forward handball game going to the level of past years.

The other thing as others have mentioned is that he is getting a lot more attention. He is ether getting tagged or blocked so that he isn't able to move through the contest as easily as he has in the past. Once we get our full midfield back we will see Lambett back to his best.

Much better from Labblett today, 22 possies and in some good chains. Still room for further improvement

He needs a spell. He is currently playing like a VFL player.
The real Lambert would've kicked all those 3 goals last night

Has had a poor year on the whole and one of the reasons our impressive form against the Dogs, Bears and Kangas when he played well but the rest have been prettyv ordinary and thus he has also been a factor in our poor showings alongside plenty of others.

One of our biggest Barometers.

Lambert has always struggled when one of Prestia or Edwards is out. So with both of them out it's not surprising he can't get a kick. Lays bare the lie of his JD podiums.

Lablett has definitely struggled overall this year.
Statistically well down across the board.
We need him cracking come finals time.

I reckon Spook is spot on. Lambert seems to play his best football when our midfield is at full strength. He gets off the chain a little. Hoping he fires up when Edwards returns and hopefully Meatball too.

Bit harsh on Lambert. Teams have played a much more defensive brand against us, the space that he usually has to run into is just not there. He's never been a pure midfielder. Think he sits 59th in coaches votes award so is doing something right. Agree he hasn't been as consistent as previous years but not many have.

I reckon he does benefit from having Prestia and Shedda around him, allows his strength of running around to get the ball out and delivering into the forward 50. Hard when others are missing. The defensive nature of the short quarters is also having an impact.

His role is not the player to be tagged and get the ball out, his role is to deliver from just outside the congestion.

It's true that he struggles without prestia and edwards but his role is not to be the ball winner or distributor but to run hard and be a link man all over the ground and the extra at disputed ball situations.

Love this bloke.

Really enjoying Jack's Tiger Time podcast, and was listening to Shai talk about his move to the midfield (not tech savvy enough to provide link, but great podcast if you want to listen)

Shai was mentioning the people that helped his transition from forward line and spoke highly of Lambo. Said he was struggling to understand the midfield structures and approached Kane, who helped him learn them.

What a guy. Potentially helping another player take his spot in the middle, because it will help the team.

Kane Lambert - the quintessential Richmond man!

He is struggling without Prestia.

Plus clubs are putting in a heap of work into him as he is that connector between mid and forward.

5 tackles, but that's about it. Wonder if he is carrying something.

We need him firing come finals, particularly with Prestia and Edwards looking less likely.
