Just checking some WAFL stats and ask why he appears to only have played for Peel twice in the last 10 or so weeks ?

Also noticed he gives away lots of frees , a couple of games had 5 against and none for

Any WAFL watchers out there who may know

try here : http://www.puntroadend.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=37994.0

Or try the juniors board in general. You can even find some sensible observations from the PRE loons on the juniors board.

Morabito is a great talent but I'm not convinced he will become a star. He's going to have to be able to cope with hard tags and that will be difficult for him.

Some excellent footage of Morabito in the WAFL here, not just the highlights but everything he does in the game

I really like what how his size could complement guys like Chimp, Lids, Foley and Titch but I'm not in love with his finishing.

Edit: good little collection of observations here too http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=629173

Moribito = Introverted outside mid who waits for the ball and kicking acc is questionable. 0.8 kicking for goal in the champs. = NO THANKS!!!!

Trengove or Martin for us. :police:

Agree.
Sorry, I know it has nothing to do with your question taz, but must give credit where credit is due.

Agree Mtench, despite some other observations that he gets the hardball consistently, I'm yet to be convinced. His kicking is suspect and I get the impression some have become seduced by the Goodes comparison.

As for Trengove, I'm completely sold but don't think he will be available therefore it would come down to Butcher or another mid.

He might play similarly to Goodes but he's quite a bit shorter so much so I reckon the comparisons are meaningless

Be interesting to see how many knockers have seen Morabito play bar the one televised game this year to come up with comments like him being outside & introverted.

lots of hearsay floatin on here ILO.

He has things to improve upon for sure but make no mistake he could end up numero uno from this draft. Easily.

At worst a guy that will end up his size, strength, speed & ability will still be a very dangerous footballer.

Heard a whisper that Morabito could be gone before our pick.

It makes sense given Melbourne have a lot of inside midfielders already. McLean, Jones, Moloney, Sylvia, Grimes and will add Scully to this group. They may well be looking for something a little different at No.2.

Agree, cannot believe the knockers. For me he is the guy whoose talent right now is very obivious and in four or five years I shudder to think what he will be.

Scoop, if you had the choice who would you prefer out of Trengove and Morabito?

Well thats good news if true, takes that decision out of our hands.

It's a fair comment about people making unqualified judgements on him, me included. I'll freely admit that I haven't seen him except for limited footage. I know on other threads people have questioned his mental strength, but I won't buy into that, as I wouldn't have a clue.

I can't pinpoint it but I'm just not sure that he is right for us.

To his credit he has a great build, seems to get plenty of the ball, and he may well turn out to brilliant (in which case all the more to you for believing in him) It is not that I hold anything against him, far from it.

I understand that drafting requires a component of educated guesswork, so perhaps you'd call it a safer bet. I see Martin or Trengove as a better option for us at this point. Nothing sinister.

Trengove. He is a sure thing I am told by people who are a lot better then me at this.

I push Morabito on the assumption both Scully and Trengove are gone.

I am very anti Butcher.

Caution:
Jarrod Oakley-Nicholls was drafted on the basis of video highlights.
Remember highlights are such, they don't include lowlights.

To be fair,

Trengove - only one video avail. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y2PwtBToqA

Martin - only one video avail. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bTjp4ROxszk

Cunnington - only one video avail. - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BgPKwzcoc0

Ladies and Gentlemen of the PRE jury, I would like to present my first piece of evidence, Jack Ziebell.

Leysy, I'm no expert and I've attempted to qualify most of my remarks with 'from the limited footage I've seen', in saying that I have some concerns about Morabito and maybe some WAFL watchers can clarify these issues.

Firstly, I think Morabito looks rushed when he kicks and often misses targets from short range, he seems to take on all before him then fails compose himself at critical moments.

Secondly, he hits the packs at full pace which is very eyecatching but I don't see him as a natural extractor in the Scully mode. I also wonder whether this will be as effective when he's up against the bigger bodies of the AFL.

Thirdly, he's not a noted goal kicker, nor is he a big possesion getter. His athletic abilities seem to centre around his bursts of pace but how's his endurance?

Again, I'm no expert and would appreciate input from others more qualified but for mine, I see him as a risk not worthy of pick 3.
