Movies

Everybody Wants Some, Richard Linklater's spiritual sequel to Dazed And Confused. Follows a college baseball team in their settling-in/partying days before a new school year. Very enjoyable.

Re-watched Bob Roberts. Could be the best political satire of all time. Fitting, too, for these crazy times.

And good to see Breaking Bad's Gus Fring and a very young Jack Black in early roles.

Saw Hacksaw Ridge tonight..it was one incredible film. Almost the best war film I've ever seen.
Extremely emotional, intense & just a great story well told.
Bravo Mel Gibson. The man is a great director.

Good to hear, Tooheys. Am looking forward to it.

What other war films do you like? Off the top of my head I dig The Thin Red Line, No Man's Land and 9th Company. Yet, Love and Death is my fave but as a Woody Allen black comedy it doesn't quite qualify as a war flick.

He's a bloody good actor too, ToO. Watched Blood Father last night, which is a bit of a B action movie, but Mel is very good in it. Still ridiculously handsome for a 60-year-old alcoholic. The beard really suits him.

I suspect he's been on the roids or something though. Would explain the rage.

Agree with all of above. Saw it today and really enjoyed. Just below Saving Private Ryan and Gallipoli off the top of my head

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was good but don't expect Harry Potter.
Too much CGI and not enough plot for my liking but good escapism for a couple of hours.
My son loved it. I guess that's what counts.

Another tick for Arrival. Different spin on the alien invasion genre.

Saw it today, enjoyed it. Amy Adams makibg some astute movie choices. Keen to see Nocturnal Animals now as well.

Yep, saw it this morning. Underwhelming is my most concise description

I think rogue one is pretty solid. Character development wasn't great, but it had plenty for the fans, some great action scenes (especially the final battle) and it tied up some loose ends.

Yeah liked it.
