Mykelti Lefau

Surprised at the angst. 2 senior games. 2. Not sure what people are expecting but he needs a block of games to understand the pace and his role.

With our injuries we're not a serious finals contender this year, so it's the perfect time to give time to our fringe players to see if they are worth persisting with or not.

Leave him in at least until he and Junior tackle the same player at the same time, for opposite approaches.

Wlllo he can play and learn in the ressies. This isnt work experience.

He'll make way for Ryan or Naismith to play alongside Kosi
If the coaches deem that a better fit, fine. But I don’t thing Ryan or Naismith are any more experienced or guaranteed to do more.
Of course I could be wrong.

Will be interesting to see if the coaches keep him in this week.

Ironically the worst team we will have faced so far yet would realistically be Mykelti's most difficult assignment to play forward against McGivern and Barass.

Even more reason to play him IMO.

Needs to play angrier and do less ball watching. Attack the contest. Plays too passive atm.

And you can add Duggan to McGovern and Barass. An experienced trio

Well they are more experienced and their height will be needed against McGovern, Barrass and Duggan
We need another ruck/forward who can give Nank a chop out in the ruck and still keep the forward structure along with Kosi.

So I reckon one of Ryan or Naismith will come in.

It is a bloody big ground. He will do ok. Strong opposition is exactly what he needs.

His had a taste go back to the vfl and work on his craft.
Why?

With the injury issues we've had so far.
With a new coach and some rearrangements to our coaching dept.
With a large group of young players that have barely had a chance to show their talents or learn the pace and pressure at AFL level.
With a very strong hand at this years draft.
It's very much an experiment and learn season this year in so many aspects.

Give as many of our young and inexperienced players a decent handful of games before easing them back to magoos to firstly establish their weaknesses and strengths, then improve and develop those aspects under lesser pressure.
Same for Ouzo n Newy, give them time to look closely at the inexperienced players and adjust them, time to find out for themselves what is working or not so they can also adjust their own expectations and tactics.

We need to see Ryan and for me he offers more as a forward and as a ruck currently. He needs a block of games also. Showed a bit last year. No harm rotating them either.

No doubt he'll get a look sometime this year, hopefully as will the Cummerbund n Clarky n Banks, Cooltard, Treesize, Sonz, Bauer, Smith, Green, Raaallph and whatever other youngsters we've got on our list. I'll be more than happy to see all of them put their hands up and get a proper learning and development block of games throughout the year. What I don't want to see is these players simply getting one game here or there to fill an injury hole then thrown back to the magoos because they simply won't get the chance to adjust to the heat n pressure of AFL level footy and properly show what they're capable of.
We've just come off an era of magnificent success where there's quite a few club heroes been supported through to the end of their careers, probably to the detriment of some young players development over the last two years.
If we want to get back to playing for finals and flag contention we must get a good look at generation next and find out what they've got or we'll hit long term mediocre stagnation in a big hurry.

Keeps improving each game. Now has 6 goals and 3 goal assists from last 3 games. 5 tackles against West Coast. And how about breaking out of those tackles. He's a bit unique. No support (Kosi). Just keep playing him.

Well done Lefau, to be honest we went after you with the kicking boots on last week and you deserved it from your poor contested efforts last week. However, you have learnt from your mistakes and your efforts were excellent today. 👌 Well done 👏

You stuck it up us and good on you. Perhaps you can have a chat with you mate Sonsie about how to respond...
