Noah Balta

Oldie being a misery guts has nothing to do with Balta. He's just drawn that way. The comment was purely me poking fun at Oldie's tendency to pessimism.

Opening round last year he was high up in most posters' votes, although mainly for his work in the ruck.
R1 v Carlton: 23 disposals, 9 marks (3 contested), 3 goals, 613 metres gained, 6 score involvements, 3 F50 ground ball gets - most for the team - these are gold. AFL Player Rating 18.1 - equal highest on team. Almost universal BOG votes from posters. Even Scoop posted that he was converted to Balta as forward.

He was quieter in the next couple of games but his mere presence forward in the Sydney game made life easier for Lynch and Lefau. Then he hurt his knee and when he came back Yeezy lost his nerve and plugged the defensive hole with him.
Impressive stats rd.1 - why yze loves and needs him, so valuable.

Yeah, he was very good against Carlton. that was surrounded by an average game against the Suns, an average game against the Power and an average game against the Swans. he then returned from injury and played forward for another average game against the Dogs before starting forward (from memory against the Lions before being moved back in a 100pt thrashing.

Maybe if he stayed forward we would see more games like the Blues one, im just not sure we would, that often.

He was one of our best three players against the Suns.

An average key forward is borderline a champion. Most are below average.

One thing's for sure, we won't find out Balta's consistent output as a forward if we play him in defence.

It's over. Balta isn't a good key forward. He might have a good day once a season, but he's been tried a few times and overall, not succeeded. Plus... Fawcett, Sims, Armstrong, Faull.
Lefau & Lynch can hold us over in the meantime.
Backline or trade i say.

Just seeming him complete a solid (remainder of the) season at full back would be fine by me.
Head down - team oriented - spoiling and intercepting - earn some respect from his mates and the Club and fans
It's possible and up to him

Because you're a misery guts!

What will be interesting is the position he plays upon return.

*Leave it out, spook! Balta's best position is in the backline!*

Incorrect.

*Don't you dare say he's better as a forward!*

Everyone's better as a defender. Alastair Lynch and David Neitz were better defenders than they were forward. Who plays forward? Those who can.

But no. Forward is not Noah's best position either. It's ruck.

If we're playing Blight as forward/relief ruck now, why wouldn't we do that with Balta when he returns? Especially if we're backing in Miller and anticipating Gibcus at some stage?

We do have a bad habit here of overreacting and not seeing the big picture. He *smile* up? Yes. Does it make him a lesser footballer? The answer is clearly no. The culture piece and leadership is a bit overstated as well. They’re bloody footballers, not aspiring cardinals. He stuck up for his brother and lost it. I bet most of his teammates would respect that albeit the response was over the top.

I’m dying to see him back. Belting blokes. Fairly. Playing footy.

Big lug makes us a better team and changes the whole dynamic. Protects Trainor. Brown. We need him with all the kids out there.

Back back …always a back please.

He hasn’t got the footy smarts to be a forward, needs the ball coming to him.

We have drafted to leave him back, to build our defence around Balta, Gibcus and Trainor.

He has made a big mistake and he will be punished for it. He has been punished by the club and he will be punished in the courts. To me a good club will now help him in the process of owning his mistake and becoming better as a person.

I’m looking forward to having him back on the field again.

We don't belt blokes in footy anymore. Most likely they will get a hug and a kiss the way its going.

Ah, the old gotta be a brain surgeon to play forward argument.

See ball? Get ball.

Misery guts? Nah just a realist.😎

We didn’t go & recruit a dozen key forwards for no reason. Balta is a defender. Though off field he seems pretty good in attack.😐
