He and Young are fighting for the one spot. Unless Gibcus is out of form, or needs a spell or injured.

Got subbed on late in the Escort Cup and used his body well a couple of times. He looked to have improved a bit. Maybe he's in the picture.
Really I thought he looked all at sea.

Its a bugger of a time to come on but he is definitely behind a few in the pecking order.

I have held out hope for him but the Golder Rule still applies.

A tall without mongrel is not worth much

He's 24 just about now is when big guys start to show what they've got. I think it's time for him to have a breakout year.

His problem is he has the skills but not the mindset to be aggressive when required.
Just lacks the mongrel does Benny.

Lovely bloke it seems probably a bit too nice for the role required of him at elite level.

You cant put mongrel into non mongrels.

This bloke is classes above VFA level. He's a star there. Plays with authority and is classy. Smart. Composed.

I'm coming around to the idea that he is a CHB not a FB. He's gotta play in front not on the shoulder. Anyway we're about to get another look at him at AFL level. Maybe at CHB if Koschitzke comes in.

His on the shoulder defence is poor at AFL level. He should be defending in front or from the side. Rance. Balta.

As a stock he is totally a gay deceiver. No way you buy in. But the indicators suggest otherwise.

Can someone get this guy hungry wife level mad and angry before each game? Or at least frowning. Then let him loose.

Big opportunity for this bloke now to stake his claim. He will be playing back you'd think for the rest of the year which is where most of us think his best position is. Time to show us that you can be a solid AFL player Ben.

This guy finally gets his chance in defence i think he will shock us and finish top 10 in the b and f !!!!!

Hope he grasps his opportunity and proves he can do it. Confidence may be his biggest issue. Built like Tarzan but plays like Jane on occasions. Cue the perpetually outraged out there.

You are hoping for a heck of a lot. I have always wanted Ben to succeed and still do but he needs to shed his timid coat and get more aggressive. Other than that flaw, he has all the tools so I hope Rutten can make him reach his potential

At least he’ll be playing in his right position. I remember how much better he looked last year in Rd 1 when put back on McKay (was a good match up). Didn’t play there again after that.

Agree he has to attack the ball and take the game on - keep his instructions simple and let’s see what happens. Sooner or later, the footy gods will smile on us and we’ll unearth quality players we may not have dreamed of. Here’s hoping!

Yes he’s had a million opportunities & has been on the list seemingly forever but if he wants to continue his AFL career the time is now.
I’ve actually been cautiously impressed by how he’s been playing so far this year.
Please stand up Ben.

Comes the hour, comes the man. He is showing good form in the 2’s and the club needs him. There is no greater motivation to put your hand up and be a TIGER!

If not turn the light off and close the door at years end.

Been played out of position by Hardwick for a couple of years - not a key fwd or ruck.

Technically correct because Ben has no position so anywhere he plays is out of position.

Seriously though, spent the first four and a half years on the list as a defender. Hardwick gave him every opportunity, more than he deserved.
