Richmond VFL team v Williamstown

He's right. The cupboard looks pretty bare right now.
That's what happens when you dominate for a while. The draft etc pretty quickly push you back down. Unless you trade up or give away talent, it's rebuild the hard way.

We can only expect so many rookie picks to turn into Liam Bakers.

This is the system the AFL want.

Same issues at vfl level, lack of forwards
57-43 inside 50s and more scoring shots but get beaten by 22
Sonsie with 31 touches the shining light.
Just play him next week
Mate who was at the game said Brown looked very good as well but faded late in the game

Miller - 3 possies/1 goal
Clarke - 7 possies
Biggy - 5 possies/4 tackles
Campbell - 6 possies/4 tackles
Green - 6 possies/1 goal
Bradtke - 12 possies/2 goals
Ryan - 6 possies/18 hitouts/4 clearances
Brown - 18 possies/4 inside 50's
Dow - 23 possies/5 clearances/7 inside 50's
Ralphsmith - 15 possies/7 marks/1 goal
Trezise - 17 possies/5 marks/4 tackles
Sonsie - 31 possies/8 marks/8 clearances/5 inside 50's

+15 inside 50's and +9 in clearances but just allowed too much uncontested footy to the oppo.
More scoring shots but the Gulls were very accurate which hurt too.

As Dermott Brereton said on SEN crunch time today. He has had reason to watch a fair bit of our VFL team this year and their ain't much talent there.
Why has he had reason to watch our VFL side?

Really good game from Sonsie. Good on him for working through his form slump.

Trezise good again. I’d debut him before Brown because of his physicality which makes him better suited to the higher level at this time.

On Brown. Likes Banks before him, he’s good but never great. Would love to see him really rip a game apart and show he is a level above VFL but as yet it hasn’t happened.

Bradtke another that is building consistency but yet to really break a game apart.

Overall, good effort against a superior team. Still concerning about the lack of AFL quality talent coming through but that isn’t Morris and others fault. They are doing a good, if not great job with what they’ve got.
