reminds me a bit of aaron fiora to be honest.

Haha. Not your best 8ty. ;D

Shane may be small at the moment but he's no squib.
A couple more pre season should fix his body issues.
Reminds me more of Robbie Flower(for those that recall) than Muppet Arms.

I think he shows a heap of potential. 8)

Re: Shane Edwards is the real deal!!

As always I hope to be wrong and have Edwards become our next Brownlow medalist.

Re: Shane Edwards is the real deal!!

shane edwards has what this club has been lacking for years.....ticker......some of the older players should take heed....

Re: Shane Edwards is the real deal!!

I agree with many of the sentiments in this post. Young Shane is a real goer, who has genuine courage either when putting his small frame on the line or taking a man on with the potential to be caught holding the ball.

One of the criticisms of our players is that too many of wait for someone else to take the initiative. Edwards is one (and thankfully he's not alone) who has shown a propensity to be proactive in game situations.

He is one of the success stories of the season and I'm rapt with his progress. He may not win a Brownlow as Tigertim suggests, but I would cope with a Norm Smith in 2011 from the lad.

I like Edwards, he's a real goer, tends to caught holding the ball a bit because he tries to do too much, but at this stage of his career that's not an issue and something that he will work out soon. Unlike many of the Richmond players he does actually learn from his mistakes.
Agree. Seems to give away a lot of free kicks. However I don't mind mistakes from kids being eager.

Re: Shane Edwards is the real deal!!

Love his self belief and how he takes on opponents and is not afraid to take a bounce. Still a bit rough around the edges but promising. Hope we don't cramp his style and he doesn't lose his self belief

Re: Shane Edwards is the real deal!!

He has obviously been told to take em on and not worry to much about getting caught. I reckon this is great and hope he continues to do so. We (and he) have nothing to lose and everything to gain at this point of the season. Getting caught once to often is hardly going to cost us a spot in the finals now is it. ;)

Re: Shane Edwards is the real deal!!

It wasn't that long ago that fans were bemoaning Raines getting caught with the ball. But he's learnt form that and now provides a lot of dash out of defence.

Let Edwards continue to take them on, learn from his mistakes and become a damaging player as a result.

What's happened to Edwards

Can anyone enlighten me as to what happened to Edwards this week, did he get dropped, or is he injured?

Re: What's happened to Edwards

Got dropped. Played for Coburg today.

Dropped played a great game for Coburg today in a losing side!!

Dropped most likely so he could play a full game (good move IMO)

And as a result he went back to Coburg and was their BOG

Will be back next week

Re: What's happened to Edwards

I'd like to see Shane back next week, the kids got spark about him, backs himself and takes em on.

Re: What's happened to Edwards

I feel for the kid. In that article on the RFC sight he said he really wanted to play in a winning side just to know what it felt like. If he's back next week we will just have to beat the saints.

Re: What's happened to Edwards

He looked all class in todays burgs game. Wont talk the kid up but gee the boy is a scary prospect.

Re: What's happened to Edwards

Reckon he'll take Howat's spot next week.

Re: What's happened to Edwards

He really stood out in the third quarter today for Coburg.

He does seem to add a bit of a spark.

He will be back. Maybe Simmo too?

Re: What's happened to Edwards

I think it would be good for Shane to have some consistency. He should either play for a few straight weeks at Coburg and build up his skills, or he should stay in the Richmond team for more than one week at a time. Otherwise his confidence will be damaged and his performance will be affected, having to set his mind to a different game condition every week.

Re: What's happened to Edwards

I think it has been stated that there is a rotation policy with the young ones (unless that is code for you are dropped on form?) because of our lowly ladder position. Maybe he was dropped because of this?

No problem with him being sent back to Coburg for a full game.

Remember he played 3 or 4 games straight for the Tige's

The thing that will affect his confidence is if he puts in a display like today and doesn't get promoted
