What's up with you Easterners? All whinging about Sky Rail and yet they vote for Dan's party. :hihi
As Riddles says, the Libs are a deadset rabble. No one but rusted-on Tories could possibly vote for them.

They have completely misread the Victorian electorate. They have run a campaign more akin to a Queensland election. Negative and based on fear. People don’t fall for that *smile* these days.

I’m no Labor supporter. But apart from a couple of issues they have been reasonably solid in government and have run a good election campaign. But they have been given a massive free kick by how pathetic the Libs are.

It was probably all the African gangs. Fine upstanding banksters were too frightened to leave their homes to go vote for the party they'd bought and paid for.

ABC now predicting ALP to take back Northcote. 5.9% swing to a sitting government with an 'appalling' premier.

Yeah not sure how you can applaud someone after a result like that. But it was a reasonable speech as far as concessions go. Maybe if he had have been that positive in the election campaign he might not have had his pants pulled down.

The message for the liberal party is in these pages and in many of the posts on social media I have seen. Lots of people bagging them are not Labor supporters, they are people who are swinging voters and may have voted liberal in the past.

If the LNP moves even more socially conservative and towards to Dutton/Abbott view of the world they will get routed in the federal election next year as well.

Scrapping the East West Link and getting rid of the level crossings has been a winner for the Andrews government.

They’ll get beaten in the federal election anyway. Based on today’s results they’ll lose seats in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and that’ll be enough.

But yes they can not lurch to Dutton land or they will find themselves in political wastelands. They need to moderate to remain relevant in any shape or form.

Yeah seems that way. Removing level crossings has been a big success. A very good project. But I really don’t get the opposition to the East West Link. Anyone who travels around Melbourne knows we need another East West crossing. The Monash - West Gate is a joke. A city of 5 million plus and growing fast needs more than that.

Andrews’ West Gate tunnel is a joke. All it does is funnel traffic to the Tullamarine freeway / City Link. It has no impact on traffic travelling to the eastern and south eastern suburbs which still contains the largest portion of Melbourne’s population.

Too true Sin.

Agree on all points Riddles. We do need East/West link but in a better plan. Dan's still got work to do, and at least he walks the walk compared to past leaders.

Andrews just can’t help himself. Basically gave his biggest thanks to the trade union movement. Setka and his cronies must be breaking out the cigars.

Really hope Andrews keeps it moderate and doesn’t use this landslide to lurch to the left. The union movement serves a purpose but needs to be kept in check. After all they are not the ones that pay their members’ wages.
