State League Watch

Just perusing the WAFL website and was looking at their goal kick chart.

2 young KPP players on the list: Tyler Keitel (194cm swing man) who has kicked 28 goals so far and Mason Shaw (197cm) kpp.

Just watching them on the Francis Jackson method (youtube) Shaw looks the better prospect. Was at Port but between injuries and Dixon and Westhoff couldn't get a gig.

Wouldn't mind us having a look at Sam Sighins from the TSL. Currently dominating for Clarence. Moves a lot like Buddy in a way, so athletic. Playing a Ruck/Forward role. Could see him playing CHF and alternating with Nank. Was on the Crows list for a few years. 23 now, so will be 24 at the start of next season. Suffered from depression but in a really good place now and it's showing in his footy

Former Coburg player Luke Ryan (Fremantle) tipped for this weeks Rising Star nomination.

10 VFL players invited to the combine:

Alex Boyse, Nick Hind, James Ferry, Kieren Strachan all from Essendon, Bailey Fritsch from Casey, Josh Newman (Williamstown and formerly of Frankston and brother of Sydneys Nic), Brett Bewley also of Willy, Sam Switkowski of Box Hill, Marty Hore of Collingwood and our own Derrick Smith.

That's a lot more than usual.

Liam Ryan- Subiaco, 60 goals from 18 games, kicked 40 from 16 games last year in his first year of wafl football after coming to the big smoke from the bush, someone will pick him up in this years draft.

Will all depend on his aerobic base, was horrendous last year at official testing.

Marty Hoare is one that I really like. Kicking backman. Kicks the ball so well.

Bewley topped scored the Yo Yo at the combine. If h es still arkubd the latter ND or more likely the rookie draft id be happy to get him.

Why hasn’t Bewley been drafted? I saw his game against Casey in the final and was very impressed

I like Bayley Fritsch from Casey. Won the Fothergill-Round Medal (runner-up in the Frosty Miller), only 20, has a bit of class about him. Leaves home at 5am and gets back at 10pm on training days, so plenty of upside when he gets into a professional environment.

I see that Derek Smith has been invited and he is part of our academy. Would you draft him as a rookie?

I've only seen him play one VFL game and just based on that I'd say yes.
