Talking Politics

Or maybe, just maybe, there has been a general "cautious" support for the FTA in the media and given most PRE tenders who actually post in this thread are anti-Abbott or anti-Liberal it didn't suit the agenda? According to these pages Abbott's lack of international diplomacy was going to destroy China-Australia relations.

Willo nailed it.

a quick search of this thread using the search function shows there are just about no posts about FTAs, regardless of which party signed them.

Where did JAM go? Or is that the silence he was talking about? :hihi

On his bike. Perennial troll who harasses me by email re-registered with yet another user-name.

My dad taught me years ago that no one in politics is all bad and whilst their philosophies may differ from yours they have the nation's best interests at heart.

My brother is a died in the wool Conservative - pays $1,000s of dollars to go to a conservative fund raising luncheon etc. Even he admits that Tony Abbott is the worst Prime Minister the Liberals have had. Of Tony's first year in office he said it would have to be the poorest exercise in communication to the man and women in the street he has seen. He likens the whole year to the "play acting" of University Campus politics and feels Tony has not grown past this phase in his life. My brother's only consolation is that the other side were the same when they were in power.

I too am finding it very difficult to see the good in what Tony and his Government have done. The Private Sector in Australia relies heavily on consumer confidence and this has all but dissipated. The Libs have always been for the guy who is prepared to take a risk, invest his capital in a business and employ others. But even these guys are now lurching from month to month hoping to find a way to keep the doors open and their staff employed.

An old old saying - "Truth and innocence are the first casualties of war"

In Australian politics, I cannot see any truth or innocence to be a casualty.

Signed - Totally lost by modern day Australian Politics.........

During a long drive I had the pleasure of stumbling across this segment on Radio National. It was really interesting and made many, many good points about the past, current and future of politics in Australia.

These 4 re-distributed Labor seats give the Liberals a bit of advantage tonight with ALP - 40 and LIB - 48.

Are you calling it for the Libs TF?

Looks like ALP will win. Not good, but I hope I'm wrong about Dopey Dan.....more wooden than Baillieu.

I'd say that Tone has played part in voters turning off the Libs.

My tips for voting in the Victorian state election:

A - If you don't understand how the preferential voting system works and that YOU are the one that gives out preferences, not the parties, if you don't know who is up for election in your seat and you don't know/care about any of the issues, then scribble some witty crap all over the voting form and put in an informal vote.

B - If you do understand how the preferential voting system works, you do know who is up for election in your seat and you do know/care about the issues, then you'd know that they're all full of BS and probably should be in jail, then scribble some witty crap all over the voting form and put in an informal vote.

I know how I'll be voting and despite what some say about informal votes, I'll sleep at night knowing that I'm not aiding or abetting what I consider to be criminal activity.

Inspirational stuff.

It's more a business than a political party.

The fakes are gone. Thank you. Bye bye. Note to Abbott - your next.

Yeah Andrews is no phoney ::)

Looking forward to a record number of broken election promises; calling his costings dodgy is a gross understatement.

Not too mention the $1billion dollars he'll need to find for the East-West link payout. Where's he gonna find that? Pull it out of his ears? Like any state anywhere in the world can afford that in this financial climate.

Oh well I guess it's OK if you're a dope smoking artist or a union member. Dan's the Man and he will find a white elephant project like the desal plant where you can earn $200K pa driving a *smile* forklift.

I'm sure the CFMEU is pissing it up big time tonight. Not to mention we now get UFC!! Hooray!!

Exactly what I was about to post. These idiots are in enough trouble already.

Wasn't it El Nino the last time ALP was in office which is rumoured to arrive again? Desal plant here we come....2nd chance? ;D

Naptime has stepped down, so most likely Matthew Guy will take over but I wouldn't be surprised to see Louise Asher come close.

i think Labor could break every promise they have made. twice. and still not break the record that is being added to every day by Abbott and the Libs.

Has to be doesn't it? Most Victorians couldn't pick Andrews out of a line up.

Yet he has more charisma than Napthine. The Libs were hobbled by Bailieu and Abbott but their campaign was poor, much worse than the ALP.

More charisma? I thought I was listening to Neeld again in that speech.
