Talking Politics

Yet he has more charisma than Napthine. The Libs were hobbled by Bailieu and Abbott but their campaign was poor, much worse than the ALP.

Agree with that. Andrews and the ALP clearly out campaigned the Coalition. They did a snow job on the electorate but the Coalition only have themselves to blame.

Napthine couldn't sell a cask of wine to an alcoholic.

i think Labor could break every promise they have made. twice. and still not break the record that is being added to every day by Abbott and the Libs.

We'll see about that. I wonder how long it will take him to come good on his promises to the ambos and fire fighters?

And where is he gonna find the money to pay out the East West Link contract??

The desal plant and Myki were unmitigated financial calamities but the incoming Liberal government still had to honour the contracts no matter how bad they were.

Cancelling contracts does not augur well for dealings on future infrastructure projects. Not too mention the massive future debt burden the potential payout will cause.

Has to be doesn't it? Most Victorians couldn't pick Andrews out of a line up.

Yep. Abbott is completely on the nose. They'll lose the next federal election if he is still leader; even if that two faced backstabbing weasel Shorten is still opposition leader. They need to replace Abbott with Turnbull.

....

I hope he improves these areas. Will be very disappointed if he doesn't. I wonder if people will be willing to give credit if he does.

East West Link Payout - a scare campaign from the Right. Would not be surprised if there is no pay out at all.

Abbott's and Hockey's last budget played a significant role in this election - the Libs will try very hard to downplay it. They will point to the polls in NSW and Queensland where the sitting Libs and Nationals are in front - problem is up here in NSW, Labor is so much on the nose whilst the current Lib Government is lurching from crisis to crisis with corruption payments too!

Where will the Federal Election be won or lost? Queensland and NSW and at the moment Labor is in front there Federally but line ball/behind at the State level.

One thing is for sure - Australia is crying out for a leader - and - Abbott nor Shorten fit the bill.

Don't think they can now. PM Abbott has lead the libs down a very conservative ideological cul de sac IMO. Hope the Vic election inspires the nation.

Bring on the policy that will end the sale of dogs and cats from pet shops unless they are from a legitimate rescue group! It's about time unwitting animal lovers were stopped from supporting puppy farms which will hopefully now go out of existence. I wish. The thing I despised about Napthine was, as a vet, how he turned a bit of a blind eye to barbaric treatment of animals.

Than Napthine, yes.
I'd say Andrews doesn't look as egotistic as Naptime does, but let's hope he delivers, especially to the regional areas of the state given that his dad is a farmer. I also want to see what his relationship with the unions is like from here.

If he keeps his promise and improves the ambulance and fire services then he will be given due credit for doing what he said he would do.

If it's all just *smile* and wind then he will be proven to be a bigger hypocrite than most pollies; no mean feat.

He had these people actively campaigning for him; turning his back on them would be political suicide not to mention downright heinous.

Yeah Andrews is no phoney ::)

Looking forward to a record number of broken election promises; calling his costings dodgy is a gross understatement.

Not too mention the $1billion dollars he'll need to find for the East-West link payout. Where's he gonna find that? Pull it out of his ears? Like any state anywhere in the world can afford that in this financial climate.

Oh well I guess it's OK if you're a dope smoking artist or a union member. Dan's the Man and he will find a white elephant project like the desal plant where you can earn $200K pa driving a *smile*ing forklift.

I'm sure the CFMEU is p!ssing it up big time tonight. Not to mention we now get UFC!! Hooray!!

Nice how the Libs went on and on about Labors union links. Personally, I believe there should be a royal commission held to look into the links between the Liberal Party and big business and the types of clauses inserted into contracts which is effectively hands over public money to private business in return for very little. Why should we pay them compo for loss of profits over the entire length of the contract? As far as I'm concerned, it's fraud.

As for the costing of election promises, I didn't hear much about the costings of the Liberals promises. Not that they need to cost anything because what they say before an election and what they do afterwards is completely different.

At the end of the day, I won't be happy until both the Liberal and Labor parties are consigned to the history books, in their rightful place alongside the dinosaurs. Bunch of crooks, the lot of them!

This x 1000.
Refused to vote for Napthine for this very reason - as you say, appalling attitude from a so called vet.

Napthine out, Andrews in... M.E.H.

I would have loved for their to be a party leader, of any party, who was inspiring in some way.

Glad to read that Disco. Someone has to care for the animals.

K3 I don't care about being inspired as long as the job is getting done. Now is the time to see what Daniel Andrews is made of.

You wouldn't like there to be a political leader who has great vision for our country? To be able to articulate it in a manner that think "damn, that sounds great! I want this person in so they can fulfill that vision!"? I know I would.

That's not what I said. I'd love someone like that but more importantly I'd love someone to actually do a good job rather than just articulate a vision. They are not necessarily the same thing.
