It's time to get to work. We just don't have the depth anymore we once had. We can't just take all our draft picks and waste the last years of having Dusty. Hopefully there is enough in the cap so we can bring players in and have one last crack at it.

We’ve got a lot of cash. Only moderately over the 95%. We’ve banked the Rance money, we front loaded Caddy, Lynch and one or two others, JR and Chimp and Shed are on unders and we lost Brandon. We had a bucket load to use on not one but two key targets running into 2020 that never eventuated.

We still have that money up our sleeve, accounting of course for new contracts such as Shai’s, but the majority still exists.
Front loaded Lynch? Everything I’ve heard is that his first 2-3 years were way unders with most of his wage to come at the back end of his 6 year deal. Unless we re-negotiated the deal after Rance retired? Blair is a very very smart operator from the presentations I’ve been to but managing the Lynch and Dusty deals would be a challenge due to the big $ involved.

Not convinced that's the way a few sides did that hasn't worked at all only fell behind even more only cats maybe but as if yet no flags.Hit the draft hard Cerra at the right price only.
Which sides? Hawthorn? They fell off the cliff when they retired or shipped off their stars.
Brisbane fell off the cliff and then got Crazy Voss.
Smart recruiting and drafting keeps the window open. It’s all about list balance and making sure your age profile is proportionate across the board.

If you think one player in Martin keeps us in the premiership window your dreaming his a gun , but aren't getting younger and it showed this year he can't carry us always without help you need a core under him and at the moment a few ageing.Yes correct it is about balance we got the good picks It’s time to bring in talent and blend them with the ,Martin , Grimes , Balta and Bolton etc.

The hawks players you mentioned they shipped of there stars who ? , Hodge , Lewis, etc they we're all towards there end of there career.

If you have Martin on your books you don’t surround him with 18 year olds. Of course he needs a core group behind him. Grimes Prestia Nankervis Lambert Balta Bolton Lynch is a solid core. Add a few more to that and your window is wide open.
And none of the above are at the end of their career. They still have plenty of football left in them unlike the geriatrics at Hawthorn.

The suggestion from learned posters is that the renegotiation took place and Lynch has a newer front-end loaded deal.
No reason for him to reject such a deal

The big message this year is the struggle when Soldo + Nank are out. There are 3 games where a decent #3 gives a diff result.
We drafted SRyan to be ready 2025. And pushed out a pick.
Unless we see Soldo has recovered for 2022 we should pick a 25-28yo big lug. Not to win finals but play June/ July

Can't think of to many 25 - 28yo ruckmen that would request a trade so they can be no3 ruck, most move for more game time not less

I think we have to make the right decisions about keeping Chol/CCJ before looking at taking another one. Have Ryan to develop already. Our midfield and FL are the weaknesses.

Agreed. likely not to be on an afl list or overlooked for a younger star. So a Mumford type or a Witts type.
A late pick.

imo we have already started the search when we played Liam Buxton in the VFL.
Unfortunately he was injured early. Bug 25yo lad

Its no knock on CJ Ryan or Mate Colina.
All are developing rucks. Not yet ready to play as #1 ruck.
With Soldo an unknown in 2023, it leaves Nank as the only#1 ruck.
We need someone to potentially slot in for '23 '24.
Draft mids early. Draft a key position if available in top 30.
Bring in Freeman and Schlensog and a ruck as rookie/supp picks

Dying to know what Blair has got in mind for this years trade period.

Two first, second and third round picks should allow him and Clarke to set us up nicely.
