I think we can beat hawks Essendon & north

That puts us 8-3 at halfway

Only times we’ve bettered than recently are

Last year (lost PF)
1995 (lost PF)
1982 (lost GF)
1980. (Won GF)

So win the next few and we are well placed for a tilt at top 4.

We'll most likely be favorites for all three.

However Freo were favorites, as were we against the doggies.

Rucks will be crucial - McEvoy, Bellchambers and Goldstein. Soldo probably matches up ok on each of them.

Do not worry history will repeat itself .1969 corresponding round and ladder Tiges sixth on 5 wins and a shitload of injuries at the halfway mark we were 2 and a half games out of the four(as it was known then).Got players back and won the flag.

I think a few teams currently in the 8 would be fearful of us on a roll.
Perhaps we do a Colonwood like theirs last year.

But the rider being that actually win the whole damn thing.
Unlike those peasants across from Victoria st, who really choke when it comes to big occasions.

History does repeat itself more often than not

if we end up 8-3 with our injury run, that will be absolutely ridiculous and top 2 beckons (let alone top 4). however, i can see us losing 1 of the next 3. as we learned from the bulldogs game, consistency is gonna be a bit of an issue until the top brass return.

Agree - I will be stoked if we get there, but to win 4 on the trot is pretty hard these days.

The good thing is we have built a mini buffer so even if we drop 1 and be 7 : 4 or drop 2 and be 6 : 5 we are still tracking nicely with our injuries.

Top 3 spots look tied up

Number 4 is open to a number of clubs to take.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... if we turn halfway at 8-3 with all of our injuries, its an absolute joke. yes credit will go to our list management team, but also says a lot about the quality of the opposition.

If we don't make top 2, i'll be happy for Geelong and Collingwood to take those spots.

I couldn't be prouder of the 2019 season thus far. It really is a testament to the last ten years of work to turn the place around.

In the past a Richmond side wold fall away with this many injuries because;

a) we didn't have the depth to cover it - credit to the football department who have put together the deepest list I can remember in 30 years. Look at yesterday and the amount of under 21's who all look like long termers. Compare that to the Hawks, showed yesterday how poor their collection of under 23's is.
b) we didn't have a game plan that could cover the loss- credit to the coaching staff for having a system based plan that we have players that they can plug into it. And most credit for this must go to Fly McRae who has players ready to contribute from game 1. Not star but play a role.
c) we didn't have the culture to withstand such a run of injuries- credit to the board and football leaders for keeping the ship steady in such choppy waters.

Unlike last year, we are grinding wins out because of the three things above. We aren't playing pretty footy, we aren't going at full tilt and that's fine.

We are actually seeing what this club is made of. And I couldn't be prouder.
