Training

You go to europe in the summer not winter.
Rance now has the opportunity to go.

Been to Europe many times in both summer and winter. Enjoy both. Summer can be extremely busy. Athens and Barcelona in March averages 16 degrees. Lisbon 18 degrees. Really not that cold depending on where in Europe you want to go. December/January great to the snowy countries, particularly to experience a different kind of Christmas.

We all know how many sessions Caesar has reported on so if anyone could pick up a change in the vibe I'm sure he could especially if it was that noticeable and obvious so Caesars note in regard to it could be a critical observation.

The energy Trossman brought to the club every day is going to be very much missed, I reckon.

His absence from the club alone will hurt the playing group to a degree, I dont know how much but we will find out.

He was huge around the players this year, the more I think about it the more I think he red lined himself at the club with rehab and as a mentor in a bid to go out playing in another finals campaign and he knew all along he was likely going to go, but wanted to go out with a bang for the club.

Sadly for him he didnt make it to the field in September.

Maybe he burnt up all his last real desire trying to go out playing in another Premiership campaign after giving so much to his rehab and the off field aspect of the team success.

Mate, any pre-Xmas observations to share from the last 6 weeks?

Players that have been in rehab ALL pre-season were:

Houli
Prestia, (This time last year hadn't missed a session)
Graham
Nank
Shai, (Although started to participate in some non contact drills with main group)
English
Aarts
Higgo, (late starter only got back with rehab boys in the last week but great to see him out there).

Looking good: (a few captain obvious's here)

Cotch
Dusty
JR8
Lynch
Marlion :)

Most notable change in body shape:

Ross, (quite a bit slimmer)
RCD, (just looks to have grown into his frame, like him a lot, very keen to see if he comes on next year).

New Boys:

Too early and none to see action next year, Martyn and Dow looked the more comfortable in game sim drills.

Last session Shuttle results:

Balta last of the talls, Marbs was good, Grimes best.

Stack last of smalls, Kmac and Oleg best.

Overall:

More players in rehab than this time last year, sessions in general seem to have been a bit lighter.
As mentioned pre-season ended in a bust rather than a bang, hopefully the boys are back in January with renewed enthusiasm.

Craig Like Blake leaving we will find out just how much we will miss Alex.

He was a mentor and like an assistant coach to the back 6-7 and his help with the VFL has been underestimated i feel.

Was hanging Shiitt on us today on radio.
That we beat only the 5th best side in the GF blah blah blah.
This bloke should never be welcomed back at the club.
Compare him to Balme
Compare him to jewell
Compare him to Bourke
Their love of the club has never waived..
Yet he had no issue pumping them up GF week...

Reckon the Club's decided the season doesn't start until after the bye. Scratch out enough wins to be in the 8 before that, then get serious afterwards.

In all of footy history I can’t think of a better group of 2 + 2 at each end of the ground than a fully fit Lynch/Riewoldt + Rance/Grimes.

Oh well.

At least the rest of the list won’t assume our improvement for 2020 will come from somewhere external.

All improvement needs to come from somewhere internal again now.

Can see where the improvement will come from

Soldo improving at a rate of notes. More experience and belief as main ruckman
Stack will improve
Marlion will add improvement just turning up to play
CJJ/Balta/Chol maybe longer term but they should get more games and build on what they have produced
RCD and Ross will also improve the side.

Who goes out is the question and just having so many options should drive the incumbent 22 to greater heights.

Have to go back to hawthorn in the 80’s

Dunstall & Brenton
Langford & Ayres

Like us to get the same success they did.

Bit of word around that we will keep Rance on the list in the hope he decides to comeback after the Bye

If he takes 6 months off now , He may just think hey i miss the club and the boys and playing and want to come back if his spot is still there

Would it be ridiculous to think that Evarn may supercede Nank to the point where he starts to look elsewhere? With CCJ waiting in the wings the squeeze is gonna come!

This can only be good for us going fwd IMO. They all offer different strengths.

CCJ will give them wind burn on the way through. Kid is a gun in the making

I have no doubt that 1 or maybe both of Nank / Soldo will be looking for new homes or will get offers to move once we develop CCJ in 2-3 years time
Unless ofcourse CCJ wants home or the other 2 take their game to a level higher than what we have witnessed so far
