Watching the latest series of Alone Australia on SBS. Now that's a real survivor show. I find it fascinating. Would not be easy in those environments!
I really like Alone. Just brutal conditions there in Fiordland in NZ.
But I can't help thinking when watching the Oz version, there is an element missing from the US original. That's right - deadly predators! No bears, wolves or coyotes to deal with. They don't even have snakes in NZ.
Nevertheless, fascinating to see how the contestants try to deal with it all.

Anyone see the UK version a few months ago? Pretty funny. They must be light on for survivalists in UK, so they went with an entrepreneur, a designer, a PR executive, a project manager among others.

And in some of the earlier ones they didn’t even have access to water which made it even tougher again.

Have started watching another video game adaption Fallout on Amazon Prime.
Good so far & I've never played the game.

Yeah really good - much more comedic than the Last Of Us video game adaptation, Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell fantastic.

Fallout is very good.
Baby Reindeer one of those that you don't want to watch if you're looking for a feel good TV series. But very good.

I’m on episode 3 of Baby Reindeer, compelling indeed.

I’ll Google it after I’ve finished but I wonder how true it is.

Agree. Its fascinating. And agree it would be tough, but I reckon the Aussie contestants are a bit soft compared to the US show. I honestly don't know if its due to national character or casting approaches or policies. A couple of the casting decisions have been real clangers IMO, you see straight away that 2 or 3 will last a day or 2, and so it turns out, and you think 'what were they thinking getting that guy?'

You know that I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I reckon series 1 result was manipulated. Got down the the last 2, Gina and the other guy. Went on and on. Everybody was backing Gina, nobody wanted the other guy to win. And they were getting no interesting content, days would pass, a week, and 2 minutes of footage. Then the other guy gets forced to retire. I'm cool with it, but a bit sus.

I'd like to see a desert series, the red centre. No mucking around out there, and its as Aussie as you can get. It would be a sprint rather than a staying race, 8 or 10 days would probably win it, but just as interesting.

Watched a good doco, Last Stop Larrimah, about an old bloke who goes missing along with his dog from a tiny town in the NT, population 11. Great "characters" of the town interviewed. Whodunnit tho?

Not streaming anywhere so you might have to pirate it arggghhhhhh

Nice post. I think with both of the Australian series, the lack of food & difficulty in getting it would be the most intangible problem.

As for the first series, I'm not sure about faking it. The guy that finished 2nd said he wasn't coming out of the game until he basically starved to death & he virtually was. His health even looked impacted at the reunion episode. I prefer to think it was legit.

Like the outback suggestion!
