Tyler Sonsie

I imagine, knowing how diligent Blair is, that we were well aware of both, and had conversations with the management of both, but were prioritising one over the other - thinking the cost for both would be too high.
I agree though, the decision to get them both looked very late in the peace.
Can only speculate it became a reality when negotiations started and GWS were pushing too much for one, so we tried a package deal. We'll never know unless Blair publishes a tell all.
I,d suggest we were in discussions with both, thinking a success rate of 50% would be good.
Don't put all your eggs in one basket!
When both turned around and responded yes we then said 'now whadda we do'

Tyler's mate Jake Soligo continues to improve & is burning it up for the Crows apparently.
Meanwhile we're still wondering if he's going to get a game.
Just about the biggest disappointment on our list to date.

Hard to think of a 21-25 year old on our list that isn’t still in the “Will they or won’t they make it” category and not the “how good can they get” category. Sonsie is no exception.

Has a career average of 13.4 disposals. Even if he improved his output by 20% it still wouldn’t be enough.

Depends on where he plays, for a half forward that’s about right although he would want to hit the scoreboard as well.

Really hard to judge his output on numbers because he has rarely been played on ball and has been a sub a few times.

From what we hear this year I think the club has got it right to give him the best chance to succeed. He is probably not going to be in our first choice midfield, doesn’t hit the scoreboard enough as a forward so he needs to play wing or halfback.

I’m not saying he will make it , only that this is his best chance.

What became of my boy. I just get this face.

Have been waiting for Tyler to really take that step forward. Sadly, it hasn’t happened to date. I thought he looked pedestrian against West Coast. Just not seeing any real signs of improvement. Not everyone matures at the same rate but he is starting to run out of time. If he hasn’t pushed into the seniors and by doing so, justifies his place in the side, then I suspect his time may be up at seasons end.

I don't think he's Gunna crack it as a midfielder (yet, anyway) and as a half forward in the worst team in the comp? That's death valley. I'd be asking for a spot on the half back flank.

I could be wrong but I thought for bits he was coming off half back re the Pies & looked okay there !

Will Sonz be there or won't he come Thursday night?

Showed a bit in the practice games but the pressure cooker of round 1 is a different proposition entirely.
If he gets named it's vital for his career that he grasp the opportunity with both hands.
If he's not named they've punched his ticket already.
Personally I'd give him another go (expect the club will too) but he's fast running out of time to have an impact as an AFL player..

Suspect if selected he might be the sub
