Suspect if selected he might be the sub

Not sure on him being sub, I'd prefer others for their versatility.

But it might work him coming on later in the game. He might get some confidence running against players who have already spent a bit of energy.

Just not sure I see where Sonz fits at the moment. I really want him to do well, but he just doesn't seem to be a natural fit at this level in any of the positions I have seen him play.

Yeh I just thought start the juniors and then as they tire bring on a sonz who could play forward mid and cover Lawlor or off the HBF a trainor. Dont think that Lawlor will last an entire game TBH based on not having previous Junior Pre Seasons behind him

I could be wrong but I thought for bits he was coming off half back re the Pies & looked okay there !
Agreed. Thought he got more disposals and ball-use was quite neat and tidy.
Let's see how he progresses over '25. He's a utility which makes him versatile, including possibly a run in the midfield.

Still not convinced
Hard to judge off that cameo. 30 minutes, 7 touches (3 contested), 86% efficiency, 0 tackles. He certainly played a role in our team defence and he looked composed. Hard to influence with that little time and he's own limited experience.
He was improved against what he's shown the past 2 years though I reckon. Graph went up a little, from a low base. I hope we give him more time on the ground.

Keep playing him. We can do with his disposal off the back line. Hope he starts next week.

He halved a couple of aerial contests on the outer wing against taller opponents to prevent Carlton transitioning out of defence. Had to go from front spot. Pleasing progression in that respect.

Couple of dishonest moments early doors and that’s the main knock on him.

Seemed to lift when the team lifted but like others I’m still not convinced.

It’s like letting your spare room out to a shady hooch dealer

He played ok when he came on against the Blues I guess. However in his 4th year he really should be establishing his spot but still clearly regarded as a fringe player.
He might go back & accumulate 30 possessions at VFL level in the midfield but should have run the likes of KMac out of a job by now. The footy dept. obviously don't trust him in the midfield yet & McAuliffe looks closer. I'm not sure what Sonsie's future looks like from here tbh.

Future looks pretty clear. VFL or suburban footballer. Not fast enough, not hard enough, not good defensively and no bankable weapons.

Still got some time this season to try and establish an AFL career but at the moment he's looking like an absolute tweener. To talented for VFL footy, but not enough capability to be anything more than a fringe level AFL player. Hovers around that 18 to 30 position on the team list and completely interchangeable with a raft of other players.
Almost seems to be a kid just coasting along n having some fun playing footy n hanging out with his mates, because that's what kids do n he's got some footy capability. Doesn't appear to me to have that bit of desperate need to hunt the ball, impact a contest, or impose himself on the game. Just happily floating along on the fringes and that's o.k. at any other level of the game. But career deadly at AFL level. I'd like to be totally wrong n for Sonz to be a 200 gamer for the club, simply because I'm a Tigers supporter n he's wearing our jumper. Sadly though I'm just not seeing it.

If you're the sub in round 1 and then dropped in round 2.....I'd suggest you probably didn't do what you were asked to by the coaches

Or, the main 22 played well and they don't want to drop them, but want you to get a full 120 mins of footy this week
