U.S Presidential Election

Yeah, 1967. Are you trying to tell me the lot of the black American has not improved since then?

King wasn't Jesus Christ, not everything he uttered was gospel truth. What did the riots in dozens of cities in the wake of his death achieve?

And could you translate the asterisks for me? I can't find a word that fits.

Another sidestep. Address what King said.

Another sidestep. Address what King said.

It has failed to hear that the plight of the Negro poor has worsened over the last few years.

Not true of the last few years.

It has failed to hear that the promises of freedom and justice have not been met.

The cop has been charged with murder, in record time. As I asked before, do you want to execute him without trial?

And it has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice, equality and humanity.

Most of us want to live in peace; as in all civil society, those intent on violence must be removed.

Social justice and progress are the absolute guarantors of riot prevention.

Tsk, tsk. Go ahead and list your demands lest US cities are burned down.

If I was a racist I might claim black people are inherently less capable and require special treatment as they don't have the same potential as other humans. But millions of black Americans have put the lie to it by being successful. Others just wonder why success isn't handed to them. Same applies to whitey.

Do I steal those headphones because a black man died in police custody, or do I study for the exam on Thursday?

Why not both? Or aren’t “they” capable?

This is what happens when voices aren’t listened to.

I’m amazed people are surprised. Trump made America a tinder box, this was coming one way or another.

Vile human. Monster.

America has a great tradition of providing opportunity. You've got to want to take it, though.

America has a great tradition of providing opportunity? Really? Got any facts to back that up or is this just made up bulls*** like usual?

Well, let's look at the facts: if you are born in a family in the bottom quintile of earnings in the USA you have a higher chance of staying in the bottom quintile than equivalents in Britain, France, Italy and Sweden.

If you're black it's even worse.

Delusional.

Not true of the last few years.

Says a republican politician? She's happy black unemployment is only 60 higher than white unemployment. She's a big BLOTUS fan too.

"Black Americans are doing great under this president, and as this continues, we can expect surprises from this community in November 2020."

It's now May, and it's fair to say we are all surprised.

The cop has been charged with murder, in record time. As I asked before, do you want to execute him without trial?

As I've stated what, around three times now? Everyone charged with any crime is entitled to a fair trial.

Tsk, tsk. Go ahead and outline list demands so that US cities aren't burned down.

It's been 53 years since King's speech - not enough time to address social inequality between now and then?

Ah come on. Shooting fish in a barrel is no fun. "The land of opportunity" is a well-worn slogan going back generations. You'd be aware of that if you had the knowledge you accuse others of lacking.

America is the land of opportunity, and should be proud of it

If you want to improve your lot instantly then I recommend Tattslotto.

Oh look - BLOTUS says kneeling quietly during the anthem is disrespectful... so WTF is he doing here?

I almost feel sorry for you Lee - anything Trump has ever said critical of any of his opponents, there is a tweet or video showing him doing the same or worse.

Last year, on "Fox & Friends" Trump said that showing disrespect during the anthem was "maybe" a deportable offense. "You have to stand proudly for the national anthem, or you shouldn't be playing, you shouldn't be there. Maybe you shouldn't be in the country,"

looking forward to the BLOTUS deporting himself.

Hmm you reply with a fact-free opinion piece from Fox, not surprising, facts can be very inconvenient for some.

The Land of Opportunity is a well worn lie, peddled by the right wing media cheer squad as you demonstrate so well by linking to that article.

It is less a land of opportunity than Britain, France, Italy and Sweden, that's what real data tells us.

I thought flag burners and anthem mockers were the scum of the earth? Address the point Lee.

Here it is in black and white - in a piece querying its veracity.
The American public has always cared more about equal opportunity than about equal results. The commitment to provide everyone with a fair chance to develop their own talents to the fullest is a central tenet of the American creed. This belief has deep roots in American culture and American history and is part of what distinguishes our public philosophy from that of Europe. Socialism has never taken root in American soil.

I'm with Trump and Lee, national anthems are stupid and we shouldn't pay them any mind, or even play them, let alone stand reverently for them.

Here's some actual real data about the land of opportunity and real wealth differentials based on race. From that renowned leftist organisation, McKinseys

Yes there are cultural factors at play. I can guarantee that if e.g. Aboriginal kids were required by law to have 95% school attendance up to the age of 16, say as a proviso for welfare payments, the prospects of Aboriginals as a group would take a quantum leap forward in the space of a generation. Hence I donate annually to assist those making an effort.

How do you break out of the rut if you're born to parents who don't care whether you get an education or not? Nobody has found the answers.
