U.S Presidential Election

As stated, I don't wish to debate it. Labor is only in power because the Victorian alternative is so poor.
I’m not an advocate for the Victorian Labor Government in any way
What I am an advocate for is calling out ridiculous BS statements based on nothing.
All this left, right, socialist etc labelling is just a pile of crap.
If you want to find poor economic management and burgeoning debt in this world then that’s an easy job but it’s got very little to do with some purile labelling off a political spectrum.
We supposedly have a right leaning government in Canberra now and they have doubled the debt since being in power. The last US president to show a surplus was Bill Clinton
The old adage that Labor or left leaning Governments can’t manage economies and right of centre governments can is just not borne out by facts.

What are the politically correct terms for use in a politics thread?
You can use the terms all you like but it’s the assumptions that people or parties that fit into your definition of left or right as examples have particular characteristics.
“Leftie governments can’t manage economies, lefties are less happy etc. “
I’ve met enormous numbers of people in my life with very wide spectrums of opinions and backgrounds. Overwhelmingly the most intelligent and interesting of those are people who are hard to characterise in some cookie cutter way. They are individuals who call things as they see them but also evolve and question.
Labelling people and making assumptions about what they believe because of a label is pretty much the opposite of that.
It’s why I hate most politicians and political parties so much, they have to comply with group think and it makes it hard to know who they are as individuals.

Likewise science gets reduced to Leftism in this way of thinking. Climate change denial and now we have pro-Trumpers in the States saying that Corona is a Dem conspiracy to make Trump "look bad" and cause a recession.

That's post-truthism I guess.

Of course they're less happy! It's why they seek to change everything!!!!!!!

It will all be fine as long as you put your heavy furniture in front of the windows.

Can't think of a single time-honoured conspiracy theory I subscribe to. However...

- virus reported to WHO on New Year's Eve when we're distracted
- timed for Chinese New Year when many nationals report home before flying out again
- political pressure applied to neighbours to allow Chinese students to enter
- China recovering as the rest of the world falls under the wheels of the pestilence.

Not saying I give it any credence at this stage, but you have to admit there's a bit to work with for those inclined, even before reaching for rumours.

You have missed the point. “They” as you describe them don’t actually exist imo.

Yeah yeah sure Ted.

University lowers entry score for female applicants in male-dominated course (paywalled)
The scheme, announced by the UTS for 2020, says girls can enter STEM courses with 10 fewer Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank points than boys.

The girls are then encouraged to aim at careers in science, engineering, IT and maths.

We're clearly shifting away from our ideal of equal opportunity towards bias and outright discrimination. The evidence is everywhere.

If there was a coronavirus that targeted militant feminists, I'd be very, very hard-pressed not to cheer it on.

Name me a single right-wing feminist organisation.

"The left" is a loose alliance of borderline anarchists. And a handful of real ones.
Rubbish

People are people with their own views. The left doesn’t exist as any sort of group or alliance or whatever you call it. “Lefties” are different things to different people as are the “right”

These sorts of labels only exist in the minds of people who can’t handle the ambiguity of human beings and who like to have everyone put in boxes because it suits their view of the world.

There is no gigantic alliance of people sitting in urban cafes sipping lattes, reading Trotsky, and hugging trees on the weekend. There are people who may do that but there are enormous numbers of people who sit across multiple views on multiple issues
