Welcome Sam Banks

He kicked a ripper on the left as well.
He's lean and rangy, a rich man's Dean Polo. Same long arms but faster and better skilled.

What’s the hurry , the kids like 70kg , he’s going just fine 2 1/2 games in
Exactly. You cannot rush a 70kg kid into playing AFL after no PS and a handful of VFL games. It's not that he is necessarily lacking the capacity; it's that he's suddenly up against hardened, fully-fit and grown ~100kg men whom will hit and tackle him hard before he is ready.

This is how Terry Wallace probably ruined some promising young talent.

It’s certainly how Carlton have wrecked their list over the years

Banks is the most confident 18yr old I’ve ever met. And in a humble not cocky way.
Had literally no preseason and only joined the main group 2 weeks before the start of the season. Only played half a game in round 1.
And I can tell you first hand Dimma loves the kid.
Has all the tools and the drive to be the best he can be.
He’s a 200 game player. Put that in your diaries
How is he athletically? Coz attitude tank and skills seem outstanding

Just on Banksy's numbers in the VFL on the weekend site has been amended he actually had 23 disposals and kicked 2.1 :clap2

They originally only had him down for about 10 disposals as they had his jumper number wrong initially

That makes sense. I thought he had a good game but the stats didn't show it.

Its probably going to sound silly but im more excited about next year than 2022
Another preseason into last years kids with extra bulk and strength , Dow , MRj , Ralphy , RCd etc all with more experience and taking over from the older boys.

Me 2
We just need at least 2 from the 5 to be genuine players anynore would be a bonus.
Good wraps so far on Sonie Clarke
Hopefully Banks can string some games together
But Gibcus is a star now.
2 more this year plus Green will might be talking flags for the next 10 yrs

Great prospect. It’s nice to have a young wingman coming through the ranks.

I can see him and Ralphsmith becoming our wing partnership in years to come.

Banks knows the game he plays. We know the game we want him to play.

But all parties are ok with him getting a kick. For now just numbers of disposals are good.

Given the success of Cumberland & Sonsie I wonder if Sam Banks will be blooded in a snr game soon?
I hope so ToO. He looks the goods, but he's playing a wing role at VFL level, so with Pickett and KMac ahead of him, it's probably an opportunity thing. Maybe waiting for Pickett's next suspension :)

We can move Pickett in the midfield where he can help out with the stoppages.

Re: tank - absolutely he has it (or will)

Getting his first pre-season into him will bring him on no-end.
