Alex Rance

Generally when someone does a knee, the usual prognosis is season. Rance doesn't have a history of knee problems and he's been fairly recuperative in the past, but even so I didn't really expect him back this season, and I'd prefer he not risk a recurrence by returning too early.

People want to pot the club for anything right now. I guess a few bad losses do that to some.

Feeling let down by the club because a knee reco'd player won't come back in 5 months when we all know it's usually a year takes the cake.

;D

His knee started swelling as he tried to get fit enough to come back. You just need time with these injuries. Best thing is if Rance just lets his body heal.

Agree, let him get away for an overseas mission or something. There's nothing he can do, our year is shot. Get healthy, get fresh and come back for our 2020 premiership

Well you d think if he was close he’d just about be running by now , heard nothing

Rance at training has been doing some limited running and other footwork drills so he is at least out there.

Fair enough. If there were warning signs then there was no choice but to pull back.

Dunno if it was a puff piece in today’s Age, but Alex seems serious about getting back in 2019. I reckon I’d take him at 75% over Broad (assuming Dave takes Garthy’s spot).

He was on SEN yesterday talking about how he’s going and what his chances might be:

Was on MMM Monday, I think, and said he hasn't ruled out playing again this year, citing Goldsack & Lynden Dunn as exemplars.

was piggy backing Grimes around on RFC.com??

dunno if it was filmed preseason (otto box challenge)??

but he was moving and weight bearing pretty darn well.

Notice you don't make your snide comment directed back at anyone. Cheap shot. Maybe that's because it's such a misrepresentation of what I said ... that's if you were referring to me?!
"Some" eh? Is this from a guy who disappeared off PRE for quite a while ... but is now back, together with his high horse, to preach at others who could not possibly have his degree of loyalty. Flog comes to mind.

Club personnel, even Dimma, talked up Alex's chance of returning in '19. Fact. That's also substantiated by Alex himself, again, yesterday on SEN, and HUN article today. Try reading LtR's, Carn and Kiwi's posts below.

Club shouldn't talk it up at all until there's a realistic possibility. It's very unlikely .. and he's too valuable to take any risks with, although it would be near miraculous if it occurred. There should be no pressure or expectation.

I wasn't thinking of you whatsoever Leon. I've go no interest in picking fights on PRE these days. My comment was more a general reaction to negativity I've noticed recently, particularly on game day threads, but that was always the case I guess...

Before the match, Hardwick said there remained ''a very small possibility'' that Rance could yet return to the line-up later this season, telling ABC radio that the 29 year old's rehabilitation from a knee reconstruction and training was ''going incredibly well''.
He said the Rance was such an important player that the Tigers would err on the side of caution with his comeback, but conceded it would be tempting to slot him back into the 22 if Richmond made the finals. ''It would be good to put that piece back in the puzzle,'' he said.
