Go to page 6 of this link if you want to see the different gradings for a classifiable offence.

https://s.afl.com.au/staticfile/AFL Tenant/AFL/Files/2019-Tribunal-Guidelines.pdf

How this was graded low impact is beyond me and it does leave a chance for Hawkins to only receive a fine if it is downgraded from intentional to careless.
They will probably argue Hawkins went to whack him in the arm but because Schofield was bent over Hawkins hit him in the head.

Going by the grading system Christian definitely should have graded it intentional and medium impact which was high (to the head) - A clear 2 weeks.
I just don’t see how they can argue the conduct grading. It can’t be careless because there was no reason for him to be swinging his arm in that manner. If the ball is there then yes but not in that situation. And I’m not sure it matters if he didn’t meant to hit the head, he did mean to hit him and it did end up being to the head. I also believe there is a small risk that the tribunal can reclassify the contact grading to medium however it’s unlikely. Would be funny if he did end up with two though.

If he gets off RFC should lodge an court injunction for manifestly unfair decision using Soldo’s case as the precedent. AFL would be mortified if it went to court and we were insisting the original MRO decision stand.

Paddy thinks it’s fine as we can give the best players a bit of leeway

If Hawkins’ hit was low impact, I would love to see examples of medium, high and severe.

If he gets off, I would instruct Lynch and Riewoldt to start throwing careless low impact roundhouses to the whole Geelong defence.

Heard Coach Salt roll out the same nonsence today, stating ‘that the afl had moved away from handing out suspensions in recent history’.

I can understand players who may have infringed during a contest getting some leeway come finals time, but whacking someone off the ball is a whacking someone off the ball. It should be 2 weeks off the bat, downgraded to 1 if the coach promises to stfu about it.

Twitter would be a bloody ghost town if you weren’t allowed to post stupid s**t on it.

Wow, really? That’s horrible, weak-minded leadership there lacking a certain perspective and philosophy that Dimma has in spades.

Makes me very proud and grateful of our leaders.

Scott’s default stance is “it’s not fair”. Maybe he thinks he’s playing mind games?

Why can Geelong’s coaches and players give their opinions ad nauseum EVERY time one of their clowns gets reported? I always thought the rule for coaches and players was, shut up, challenge if you must but then shut up again. Don’t show dissent and certainly don’t try to influence the judiciary.

If you really want to be a whiny little baby about it, then by all means have a public sooky-la-la but be prepared to cop a hefty fine.

Seriously, Scott, Clangerfield and co have commented on everything all season and are still whining.

It is wearing thin.

Careless and intentional off the ball = 1 week

I didn’t think it could be both careless and intentional? It’s either or?

Can see it being downgraded to careless, he was borrowing Gazzas bumper bar technique but got it slightly wrong.

Why aren’t we referring to this as a coward punch if we r being serious? It’s a swinging arm with a clenched fist from behind a guy not expecting to be punched. Schofield is lucky Hawkins has poor aim.

when I first saw it, I thought Hawkins had broken his arm he hit him so hard.

On the replay you clearly see Hawkins shake his arm and think

'*smile* that hurt'

imagine how Schofield felt it?

Im not gonna waste any more time contemplating how predictably *smile* the AFL are.

We will beat Geelong with or without Hawkins.
