Not sure there is much choice. I’d like to keep him too but we have to upgrade Baker and Eggy at the very least. Then we need to make room for a couple of draftees. Someone has to go to create the space on the list.
Ben Miller cannot get a kick. Makes Griffens look like Carey.

Markov can't get a kick either. He's lucky we gave him a two year deal.

Ben Miller cannot get a kick.

Yeah, good point. Saved by size and youth, I guess. He may still be delisted at a later date. They may then rookie him or just let him go anyway. Miller is pretty borderline at best, I’d keep Callum Moore ahead of him too.

It depends on how many picks they want to take at the draft.

Connor is very unlucky. On the other hand, he will go to Freo and probably play 20 games next year. At the end of the day, Freo would have been offering a pretty late pick at best and we were unlikely to use it. It is what it is. Connor has had a lot of chances.

I suspect if Freo were offering something/anything and we weren't going to offer him a contract a deal would have been done.

Menadue is quick and skilful but didn't have much of a defensive side to fit our patterns. I guess we persevered but he just didn't show enough in the end.

Hope he gets to another club - I don't think this one will come back to bite us though.

Callum Moore is 23yo. He isn't good enough. Miller unlikely to make it but he's only 20. Always only likely to can one tall and on that basis right decision made.

Guess there was no-one willing to offer a trade pick that we'd utilise in the draft. Might even b that Connor doesn't feel overly inclined to continue pursuing an AFL career, dunno.
Ugly part of the season is upon us, kicking a few fringies off the list to make room for newbies.
Thanks for coming Connor good luck wherever ya end up going.

So we've given away BEllis and Butler, Grigg's retired, now we have cut these three. Think about it. There is no way you are going to replace this level of quality from this draft. Even if we mine some amazingly rich seam of talent late with our picks, they are not going to measure up to these guys for years. Most likely never.

Agree with Spook , Blx and others; thought Mena definitely has a future. Said it often. Can live with letting the others go, although I'll miss Butler who is still very young too, but Towner's time was up sadly. CMoore unlucky to get injured when JR8 was out too. Could have been his big chance - he never got a run of games.
I think another club will grab Menadue, I can think of some Melbourne clubs who should seriously look at him and not only Freo, and he could end up becoming a better player than KMac in a couple of years time. Is Naish going to be tough enough, big enough? Sure, a talent, but just like Connor, he lacks that big, hard body atm. There were signs Connor was right on the cusp of breaking through though. He has the requisite skills for the modern game if he can just chase and tackle more.

Certainly a tad unlucky. Was never a fan but he was the best and most consistent VFL player in the latter half of the season. Better than Naish (ast this stage) and Markov who are similar types.

Has had plenty of opportunities.
Had a good end to the VFL season this year but he has been given more than enough time.

Right call. 5 years is plenty of time & has barely progressed since his second season.
Mind you one or two others could have gone before him but no point crying about this one.
In saying that I won't be surprised to see him given another opportunity elsewhere.

Never used his pace on the AFL stage always played scared.

He had 5 years which is a fair bit longer than most midfielders get to show significant improvement.

Disagree. Look at the talent we've picked up in the last couple of years. Stack, Ross, Higgins, Baker, now Pickett, all playing good footy in their first season. Other than Ellis, they're all reserves grade players this year and Ellis was offered way too much for us to chase. In our recruitment team I have faith. We have plenty of young depth. Must continue to turn over the older players who haven't made it.

Markov will be the first bloke out the door next year imo.

There isn't a niche or role for him in the senior side that is obvious to me.

He will get a game or 3 possibly but he stayed ahead of Menadue simply because he managed to obtain a longer extension.

The fact they have cut Menadue shows they have plenty of others in line for the WIng / HB spots especially as fringe players.

Markov aint playing ahead of Graham, Ross, Naish, Pickett, Houli, Short, Baker, Bolton, George, Rioli, Stackie or Grover.

We must be going all right when players of menadue's and Townsend's calibre are getting delisted.
Starting 18 in 15 other clubs the both of them.

Lol we’re actually bickering about Menadue? Who cares? His time was up. Was given plenty of chances but couldn’t take any of them.

He made Greg Tivendale look like Andrew McLeod for gods sakes and he was a whipping boy extraordinaire!
