Pandemic.
China.
Hundreds of thousand dead.
No buy in from China in the early days.
Suck an egg about coherent chatter old mate, it was in response only to the worst world wide crisis the world has experienced since the end WW2. This is the time the buy in was needed most, and they didnt get it. Get it.
The US has the right to fund what it wants to fund.

Francis Boyle in the video posted earlier said the Wuhan lab is a designated WHO research facility and that WHO knew what took place there from the outset. I have no idea whether or not this is true, but the man has architected international chemical weapons treaties so he would have a fair idea of what he's talking about.

The strong suspicion is that WHO has covered up the source of the pandemic to protect China. If that is the case then they don't deserve to exist.

Yeah, it’s cute how progressive apologists are playing this one. I’ve seen focus tried to be shifted on to the FBI, Trump, alt right, mainstream media, and a bit of “whataboutism” regarding “Australia is no better”
Agree, Australia is not the US, never will be.
We share similar fundamentals and have definately got the same elements in our society, both *smile* racists and *smile* protesters. Just our protesters are not as disadvantaged where they feel the need to throw their lives away to make their immature cries heard.
There are no winers with what is happening in the states.

What about the majority of protesters who are peaceful? Arent they the good guys for putting themselves at risk to highlight the ongoing fear black people live with in America, only to be pepper sprayed,
what about the black journalists who are putting themselves at risk of being attacked by police to ensure the truth is shown?

Not everyone involved in the protests is doing anything wrong.

Sure, but how do you tell the difference when it morphs into wanton destruction?

Declaring Antifa a terrorist organisation is a good first step. It's separating the bad guys from the good, and that should be what everyone wants.

Like everyone else, we don't know the detail of all this L2. What we do know is that the WHO did not have the buy in from China in some form that potentially would have saved hundreds of thousands of lives. This is where the anger should be directed. Trump is directing it here.
The usual mob on here can blame Trump for everything if they want, they usually do.
In regards to the US today, desperate times call for desperate measures, both sides are feeling the same desperation unfortunately. It will not end well.

This is true B17. There is solidarity in the population for the cause, its humanity shining through. Its the same feeling here from Aussies looking in from afar.
Problem is there is no way to eliminate an individuals action or response in every given situation. These individuals are with us in every day life just like all criminals are.

Sure China needs to take a lot of blame for being secretive about COVID-19.

But don't you concede that Trump needs to take a lot of blame too for leaving the USA in the situation where they didn't have the people or department in place should a pandemic occur. Trump would not dare dismantle USA's defence force, but didn't think twice about dismantling the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.

Taiwan has had a total of 7 deaths due to COVID-19, they were prepared.

"Over the course of the Obama presidency, a pandemic infrastructure was put in place. It included recommendations for a top-level White House official devoted to planning and responding to emerging infectious threats and, to guide that person’s work, the “Playbook for early response to high-consequence emerging infectious disease threats and biological incidents.”

And then on Jan. 21, 2017, Donald Trump became president.

Beginning the morning after his inauguration, a spectacular science-related tragedy has unfolded. The Trump administration has systematically dismantled the executive branch’s science infrastructure and rejected the role of science to inform policy, essentially reversing both Republican and Democrat presidential administrations since World War II, when Vannevar Bush, an engineer, advised Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman.

President Trump’s pursuit of anti-science policy has been so effective that as the first cases of Covid-19 were breaking out in Wuhan, China, no meaningful science policy infrastructure was in place to advise him. As a consequence, America is suffering from a pandemic without a plan. Our responses are ineffectual and inconsistent. We are increasingly divided by misinformation and invidious messaging. And it’s not even over."

Really? I must be missing all the anarchy created by our aboriginal players who refuse to sing the national anthem. What have drioli, shai, shed done to breed anarchy?

It's just beneath the surface, like when Gillard was jostled in Canberra. People like Goodes fermenting national discord, aided and abetted by leftist media. It stinks.

We are going to have serious trouble with Aboriginals and pseudo-Aboriginals in future. Take it to the bank.

Old mate ?
Of course the US can fund what they want but they also need to accept the consequences of what they don't help fund as do all countries. The WHO funds programs related to TB, malaria, fresh water access, deaths related to diarrhoea, mass vaccinations to communicable diseases and a multiplicity of other things. it supports some of the most vulnerable people on the planet with about 30% of it's budget going to sub Saharan Africa.
None of that relates to the small amount of it's budget that relates to pandemics.
Stop all that and there will be plenty dead who don't need to be but I guess it doesn't matter because they aren't Americans.
My only point was that if we want a World health organisation to work more effectively then we have to fund it properly not defund it.
I have never defended China's role just that to blame the WHO for it is nonsense, they didn't know either. They found out about the "new flu" in late December, way too late. They weren't perfect for sure and they should do better but the way to get that is reform and fund it properly.
Trump himself said in February that he had spoken to President Xi and he was on top of it and was strong leader. He is searching for scapegoats to cover his own inadequacies.

Wow. Goodes fermenting national discord? The poor bloke was run out of the sport he was an all-time great of. All he did was call out racism.

Serious trouble with aboriginals? Like setting up a tent city in a park? Watch out hey.

Systemic aboriginal disadvantage needs to be discussed and dealt with. Hopefully we don't have statements like yours coming from anyone with any sort of influence.

Possibly. But after more than three months of investigation the US has obviously reached the conclusion that the WHO has underperformed. I suspect many billions of dollars could be put to better use than channeling it through the UN where chunks are corruptly siphoned off.

This is the type of decision that makes Trump a good leader. Doesn't suffer fools gladly.
