Alex Rance

people on here want first round picks ...

hilarious
Disagree. Assuming a deal hasn’t been done before he announced his retirement, he is worth a very good first rounder to a team looking to add a bit of confidence and skill and to go far into September.
Bulldogs the perfect fit.

We are only going to have to use two picks and we already have
Collingwood ‘s and our own second.
Nothing less than either this year or next years first from a competitor like the Bulldogs. Otherwise he can follow
Luke Hodge into the National Draft.

Not about me disagreeing, it's about what other teams will want to give. It's a buyers market as Richo said. Two years out, knee reco, uncertainty over why he broke ranks. It will be a junk pick or nothing.

Don’t believe it will be nothing if the Bulldogs go close this year, they will really consider topping up for 2021.

Rance would be a perfect fit and frankly why should we help him if in the end it is apparent that he left only because he and perhaps others, felt he had to go.
Their second at this stage looks likely to come in after Collingwood’s and our own.
We will go for Rioli and one other and may want to use our 1st rounder in
another trade plus a player, which may or may not go through.
So there is no way we should advantage the Bulldogs, and as much as I regret saying, this no way we owe Rance (if rumours that 5 games in he has already decided to resume his career).
We have a reputation for helping our players find new homes.
That’s a valuable part of our culture.
This case is the exception and we should hang on until bust.

Optimism is great n all, but I'll believe it when I see it.

can someone remind me again why wouldn't he play for us if he made a come back?

Because people are still for some god-awful reason pushing the whole affair rumour with Jack Higgins' partner even though it doesn't appear that there was ever anything concrete to back it up.

No, it's pretty clear he's fallen out with the group and there must be a reason for that. As to the reason why, I wouldn't speculate.

What makes it clear to you, exactly?

(Note: this isn't meant to come across as rude, genuinely curious).

Clear is overstating it, I retract that. the timing of the departure which was terrible from a list management point of view and all the signals saying he won't play again for us is all l have to go on.

I don't put any store in the malicious gossip either though.

I have no idea if there's a rift between Rance and the club. Hopefully not, and if he comes back it's with us. If there is a problem and he wants to go to another contender, I'd play hardball given he is contracted and could be the difference to a contending club. I know we're all about love and mungbeans, but retiring with two years on your contract and then wanting to un-retire with a rival while still contracted would have me inclined to say they can pay up or he can sit out another year. Imagine giving him away for pick 80 and he destroys Jack in a final. No.

Does anyone know if Rance is still contracted. If they negotiation a settlement of his contract at the end of last year with a final payment I expect it is null and void now.

Cos that stig poster couldn't wait to confirm there was a rift when someone speculated it. FFS though, dont ask what it was about or you'll be told to move on with an exclamation mark.
