I am no longer worried about Short being to soft or not up to the big games or what we do when Houli hangs up his boots.

Short continues to improve and at 24 is still relatively young but is about to enter his peak years with 84 games under his belt. His next 100 games should be a beauty given the standard he has now reached.

Shorty, bachar and notorius are gaining about 1.5km between them.

Its extraordinary

I wonder why the commentators cant work out how we beat them with half clearances and possessions?

They clear it, and take 4 kicks and handballs to get it to these blokes.

And they take 1 kick and 0 clearances to put it back beyond where they started

Oppos know this but you cant play 3 taggers across your entire half forward line

Has to be in contention for the AA team.
Baker is a much better footballer but doubt he will make it (would be in mine).

I think we need to temper this AA talk. Let's just be happy he's cemented his spot in the best 22 for the tigers.

Exactly. He's our third best running small back if you have him ahead of Markov and don't count Vlastuin. Dimma mentioned he has areas to improve and one of those (I reckon) is attacking run through the middle. Houli is a master of it. Markov does it. Baker attacks the corridor at every opportunity. When Short gets the ball in the back half it's generally going wide. I'd like to see him back his pace and skills and take on the middle more.

Yeh. And this obsession with metres gained drives me nuts. They need some supporting stats around ball retention in association with metres gained. Long kicks to disadvantage are useful only for padding out metres gained stats. I'd like to know how many times we retain possession from those long kicks. eg the Balta kick to dusty is the type of metres gained kick worth reading about.

2 west coast goals last week were a direct result of Short missed tackles. He is definitely getting better at the contested stuff in the air but his tackling is still poor. No doubt he is having an improved year and deserves his place in the side though.

He has been in our best 22 for the best part of 2 seasons now.

He may make the squad but I doubt he’ll make the team.
We shall see. If we finish top 4 I'd expect us to at least have some representation in the AA team. I'd suggest Short would be someone who would therefore be in a very strong position to make it as a result of his season so far.

I reckon if you link the meters gained with efficiency you get a good picture... short is tracking constant 80%+.... so long and accurate.... going ok

All of a sudden has time with ball. Looks quicker. Absolutely flying. AA squad. Top 5 JDM.

I reckon Shorty has had a very good year but I didn't see anything in the Freo game that said BOG or his best game ever. If anything I thought he kicked too many 50metre bombs to nowhere in particular. He has been very consistent and probably top 5 o 6 this year.

Can’t remember which one of the commentators said it, but one was talking about Shorty as a possible AA during a recent game. Has lifted his game this season.
