At least we haven't wasted our 1st round pick, as others have said Ella McKenzie looks as though she will be a star.
Side certainly got showed up for speed and skill.

Ella has genuine footy skills. Cordner was great but as for the rest...Katie Brennan is almost as overrated as Mona Hope. Gun at lower levels, does zero at AFLW level. Sabrina F is a relic from suburban woman’s footy where big slow girls could dominate on size alone. But like Men’s footy you have to be athletic these days and the Lions have that in spades.
so for all the recruits we bought in we are still hopeless.

I think the game showed how far back the tigers are coming from. Brisbane been in the comp five years and are able to keep adding layers of talent. Tigers need five dustys to bridge the gap. Will need to follow the mens list management model by getting top end draft talent and strategically adding across the field. Midfielders and more Midfielders. Speed with lower picks or trades.

I thought they showed enough to suggest they will win a game or two this year. Some of the talls are really good. Definitely better than last year.

Improved but not enough runners. Surprised Grace Campbell was allowed to leave as would have been handy help for Conti. Still, something to work & they'll be better for the run.

You need to be able to run “ quick
“ and be able to kick to have some success at AFLW
Half our team can’t do either
Huge problem
Don’t get me started on Sabrina !!!
Slow !!!

At least she won SAS Australia

Much better performance compared to last year. We drafted and traded well and have some good players in the team. The overall effort and skills were a lot better but was coming from a very low base. Unfortunately Sabrina Frederick is still doing nothing as a forward and is taking a spot that needs to be competitive in order to score goals.

Are we blaming this loss on Dimmas marital issues yet or are we waiting for a second or third one to prove the club is unravelling and becoming a victim of its own arrogance and hubris.

Maybe Caro, Kingy or Cornes will enlighten us.

This is AFLW so it’s Alex Crow’s fault, not Dimma’s.

Watched the full game which is rare for me but the prospect of seeing the women's first game at Punt Road had me interested.
Have never doubted the girls commitment but the standard of skills is gradually improving for sure.
More basic footy skills & link up plays being executed, even though it's still largely a scrap-fest.

For the Tiges I thought McKenzie looks a class above. Genuine class.
Seymour too looks the goods. Hosking is also a good player.
Disappointed in Conti as she's showed plenty previously but was well held.
Quite a few weak links still for richmond but don't need to name them.

The Lions were clearly better & the Tiges would be pretty disappointed overall I'd think despite the bright start & genuine competitiveness of effort.
Not sure they'll win many on the back of today's effort though unfortunately.
Would I watch another game this season? Not sure..maybe.

Spot on Stig.
The other thing with AFLW is the kids coming through are all the ultra athletic girls with the Sabrina’s of this world cast aside. We need to almost start again with the list and cast aside the spuds. Classic example is Sophie Molan. Slow, average skills but came through on that wave of good athletes from other sports, in her case basketball. She has no business being on our list.

The big worry for us is based on several games I have watched this weekend, the gap between us and the better sides has gotten bigger, not smaller.

We've improved but they've improved more.
The gap is huge unfortunately

The first thing the AFL need to do is make sure you can only have even numbers in the forward 50.

Allowing teams to drop a spare behind the ball is killing the game. Massive contribution to the low scoring as they don’t know at this stage how to navigate around that.

really? Brisbane are hardly a powerhouse. We are paying dearly for our original botched list management.

Reckon it's the cattle. We don't have a ton of hard running types. Need them on every line as you all know.

watched a bit. we seemed nervous. fumbled a lot. walked into trouble.
