Making Their Mark (amazon doco) & One Night in Brisbane (fox/kayo)

here is a dumb arse question from a dumb arse when technology is involved.

When watching the doc, it queues to the latest episode I've watched, as i have watched all 7 episodes i now want to go back and re-watch some episodes but can't work out how to break out and choose a different episode, I appear to be stuck in 7.

PS. I Watched it all on my laptop originally but bought a HDMI cable today so I can watch on the big screen.
Got bugger all idea how all that tech crap works, leave all that up to the daughter to manage. What's the go with the HDMI cable caesar? Don't they just chrome cast stuff from the computer to the T.V. now?
P.S. is your T.V. still black n white or something?

I'm with you Tora, I've always thought anyone who swears has lost the edge in their communication. It's cheap, low-hanging fruit.

Any really good communicator I've ever worked with kept swearing to a minimum.
I don’t mind a bit of swearing to make a point but I have always believed the person who has to say F’n every second word must have a problem with constructing a sentence. It’s just not necessary and the swearing also loses its impact when it’s used so much.

They all seem to do it, some less than others. I just can’t imagine another workplace that talking like that is acceptable or normal. I’ve worked in factories and not heard it as pervasive. Maybe in construction?

I'm wondering if it's been edited to exaggerate the *smile*.

and this why I still use my VHS.

You like swearing. Swearing in front of kids OK.
Got it.

You can believe what you want to believe, I don't care.

But do you seriously think they have not heard these words before?

Yeah, I swear, like just about everyone else. In the high pressure environment of a football club you were expecting . . .

I was surprised that the Eagles have a chaplain and an AFL captain is quoting the new testament to motivate his team mates!

Sir Dallas Brooks, the Governor of Victoria, was patron to the Tigers in the late forties and one day wandered into the Tiger rooms as Captain Blood was whipping up the team. For a man who never drops a swear word in any company Jack was cutting loose to make his point about how to play Footscray. "They're ****. I want you to go out and kill the **** ****. Kick their **** heads off if necessary. Thrash the ****. Show them no **** mercy. Eat the **** alive."

Even Jack was astonished by the open mouthed shock registering on his team, until he turned around and saw Sir Dallas accompanied by Lady Brooks and teenage daughter Jeanette. Jack spluttered an apology to His Excellency to which Sir Dallas replied, "Don't worry Jack. I know what you meant and if the women don't I'll tell them when I get home. Good luck.. now go out and kill the bounders."

I had to google what Chromecast means ;) i have an old Samsung Smart TV that does NOT have built in Chromecast.
I think that means i would have to buy a separate $50 - $100 Google Chromecast device to plug into my tv?
At this point I don't do much streaming so have gone the cheap $6 cable option

A tad embarrassed to confess what I paid for three short HDMI cables (AQ Carbon), but even those are far from top of the line. Using the Blu-ray player as a pre-amp - HDMI from Apple TV (with Kayo) to BRP, BRP to TV, BRP to DAC (audio only) then on to amp & speakers.

Inspiring doco. I don’t have kids and enjoyed the swearing. It’s not a kids show. I thought Leon Cameron was disturbingly manipulative and nasty, it was really shocking the lack of support he showed his captain and how his narrative changed to suit his own agenda. I felt sorry for those young men being exposed to such an ass hole. Dimma.... polar opposite. Geez we are lucky.

I am working my way through it. No matter how much I want to try because he is a Carlton player I can’t dislike Eddie. The fact he had a pregnant wife at home in lockdown with 4 kids must have been a major burden for him and her of course. He probably wasn’t alone, Marlion Pickett’s wife was another.
3 episodes to go but I know the ending

Love the different camera angles , ive only watched episode 1 and 7 .

I know SFA about technology stuff , however I just watched it through the Amazon prime app on the tv

Just on the foul language :mhihi I think it just shows how Dimma knows his players , same way he would speak to them all differently when talking individually....bottom line is he’s winning Premiership’s .

That passionate celebration that Benny shows after Dusty’s 3rd goal shows me how bloody a fantastic a job he has done, how he has been able to make the tough calls , while putting his love and passion of the club to the side, simply brilliant in his role as CEO and just as good as lover of the RFC like the rest of us

Finished it last night. Watching Peggy jump up and down like a 6yo after we won was very endearing.

We're very lucky to have her.

LTRTR I think i can outdo you in embarrassment stakes on the cost of cabling, i learnt the hard way.

In 2011 from Encel Stereo in Richmond I were putting my system together and were talked into getting ridiculous priced HDMI cables, I just pulled out the receipt and I am shocked to be reminded 4 x $100 Kordz HDMI cables, (that's $400:eek:).
Could have put that money towards getting a larger than my existing 2011 51" TV:(.

Now do you feel better;):))

I have watched 4 episodes and love it. Amazon do these sports doumentaries extremely well. The Tottenham Hotspur "All or Nothing" doco was brilliant.

I can't wait to get to episode 7 as everyone has been talking it up so much.

research suggests frequent swearers tend to have higher intellect. and you need to have a decent IQ and EQ to be a footy coach.

Do you have a samsung phone? its very easy to cast a samsung phone to a samsung TV. no cable or casting dongle is needed.

Agree on Eddie. More respect on top of the begrudging respect there was for him already. Actually I think his wife's attitude through it all was even more impressive.

I do have a Samsung phone, any instructions you can give me would be much appreciated.

Going to watch episode 7 tonight.

Eddie Betts has well and truly stolen the show. Lovely guy.

Leon Cameron comes across as a total knob. They are really playing up the isolation of Stephen Coniglio. It seems tlike the only support he has is from Heath Shaw and Callan Ward. Nik Nat and Adam Simpson both come across as arrogant and full of themselves. Stewie Dew is a good bloke.

I recently bought a fancy HDMI cable, but only to connect a Blu-Ray player to the TV and the player can handle 4K Ultra HD and so can the TV. Beyond that I can't see a reason for really good cables for HDMI, I have a cheaper one to go from the laptop to the TV.

Cables do make some difference (not so sure about HDMI though) and my speaker cables are like snakes, very large. The trick is only to use expensive cables when necessary and don't go near those $1,000 cables, you can get very very good cables which last for years for way less.

In any case if I want to watch things on the TV which I have saved on the computer I just use a USB finger drive, so much simpler.

Great doco, only 2 episodes in and lots of good stuff. Hard to hate Eddie Betts? Yeah, he has played for some clubs I am not fond of, but he just comes across as such a genuinely great human being.
