The other part of pushing draft picks is it’s cheaper on your cap.

We need to get one A grader out of these four and a capable of B graders.
I agree, I haven't looked into the stats for it, what the actual hit rate for first, second round, third round picks are, but you'd hope you'd make a hit on 3 off the 6 picks we have

All i can say is that i bloody hope our club has invested enough into the talent identification parts of the recuiting department and has not let the covid cuts cut deeply into this area.

There will be known talent in the top 20-25 but there will be alot of uncut gems later due to missing a year in the vic boys
I think this years draft is where we need to go all in and try to select 5 picks inside 30 and 3 out of the 5 inside 20 meaning trading up later picks to get another top 20 pick.

Port managed to select Butters , Rozee , Duursma in 2018 and followed up with Bergman , Georgiadis , williams in 2019
all these players were selected between #12-#25 except Rozee.

We need to cut some players who have not been on the list not too long but we need to be ruthless and accept their limitations or qualities ceiling are not whats required.

Garthwaite , Chol , Naish , Miller , Cumberland are all in the firing line and even some senior players that are not integral to our game plan

Time is coming to rejuvenate the list and reinvent the game plan to incorporate 3 tall foward line

A very good post but a bit harsh on poor old Cumberland, he hasn’t had any real chance to show his ability yet.

Think his first official club game was Saturday, covid wrecked his year last season. Same as Martyn and Mansell's first official club games where in the Seniors v Port, pretty tough place to play your first club match.
The rest have had 3, 4 or 5 years in the system and I believe most of them names will be bye bye birdie.

Covid didn't help but it was an ACL in May that wrecked Cumberland's year and any chance to put in any serious development work in his FIRST year with the club.
I think @turk-d-tiger had a bit of a brain fade in including Noah in his cull list?

We should have a look at Riley Garcia at the Dogs. 20 y.o. Drafted 2019. Missed last year in the VFL due to Covid. Killing it this year but can’t crack a game - yet. Loosely, a young, pesky, quicker version of Meatball.

Out of contract this year. Not sure if he’s been re signed yet. If not, he’s worth having a look at.

Injured again but does sound promising.
Although is he a much better prospect than an 18yo?

From afldrsftcen
Riley Garcia was the last of the Bulldogs’ picks, taken at number 62 as a good news story out of the National Draft. The small midfielder has loads of ability and can win his own ball, but ended a terrific National Championships on a sour note as he tore his ACL against Vic Country. While he won’t be able to impact straight away given the recovery time, Garcia is a point of difference in the big-bodied Dogs midfield who could be used on on the flanks long-term.

He’s not injured at the moment. Played every game this year. Played last Saturday. Chance to debut this week.

I read the dogs website but it coulda been a beatup.
Thanks for the headsup. Another Prestia type would be ideal to draft

Jacob Van rooyen has been diagnosed with Glandular fever and will most likely miss most of this season
He was touted as a top 5-10 pick and will most likely slide due to this condition stopping him from playing to his expected level in 2021.

Hope we take him with 1 of our selections

That would be perfect for us as we do not need draftees to play immediately
