Talking Politics

The 4 corners thing I havent seen it but have heard its been around for years. No new issue. Clutching at straws, rehash.

fair enough POV,

but if its the first time the public hear about it, its a new issue isn't it?

Mr.Sin getting bikies to torch kids in the Luna Park ghost train was 40 years ago.

you reckon the journos should just go 'nah thats such old news, lets run with the kitten with no legs riding around on the sheeps head'?

The biggest Law Man in the country allegedly sodomising a school girl without her consent? Nah, thats decades old. Hey, how's this bloke who can cook a paella in an upturned Kingswood?

Already been put out there a few yrs back. Suddenly more media want to run with it now, what 2 or 3 yrs later?!

Timiely knives on a long bow, imo

fair enough. First I'd heard of it.

As I said, I expected an ideological hatchet job,

but I reckon 'complete mental case has demonstrable influence over PM via text, and brags about it on the internet'

is a rather large story. Its even larger when the PM is a happy clapper, climate change denier, closet anti-vaxxer

we'll have to agree to disagree (we need an emoji for that).

I don't think there are any statute of limitations on information.

its cool. we all have difference opinion

Guy might be a mental case, who truly knows.

Politicians do get embroiled with people that dont realise the extent of problems that might be forth coming & honestly it can be an innocent thing with no influence but can be seen other ways by others.

Examples:
Forget who, politician sits at a dinner function table finds out later that 1 person was involved in suspected crime.

Kevin Rudd’s New York think tank has been embroiled in scandal after it emerged paedophile Jeffrey Epstein donated $US650,000 to the organisation from 2011 to 2019.

i reckon the events in the US after Trump lost the election put a bigger focus QAnon , as has did the FBI listing them last year as a domestic terror threat.

yeah agree. I said as much before the show aired; looneys are drawn into the orbit of powerful people.

but in answer to 'guy might be a mental case, who truly knows'?

I'd respond, his sister and mum.

that is true. but as you say this friendship was reported a couple of years ago, with Stewart's links to QAnon. Stewart's wife continued in her job at the Lodge until late last year, suggesting that Morrison did not cut ties immediately.
Morrison also admitted, eventually after denying it at first, to trying to get another good friend of his, the leader of the Hillsong cult- a man who covered up the 'ritual abuse' Morrison apologised for, a meeting with Donald Trump.

Hopefully Morrison has had a rethink of who his friends are- though his continual support for Stuart Robert suggests he hasnt.

Saw that this morning too. Thought well done if they can ink that agreement.
Well done Morrison!

Truly need to pull away on big reliance on China they way they are behaving. Reset.

Any free trade deal is a good thing, in principle.

Note that the British agricultural sector will be "protected" for 15 years as part of this deal so as free trade goes, it's not so free.

Hopefully, being in the top position in Aust with its responsibilities he sees ( & others who in the future get in that position) what he needs to do. Time will tell & if he fails he will be voted out on his actions.

yeah, sliding scale of tariffs to ease the competitive market for them in that sector.

I dont really get trade.

But I'll assume anything Boris Johnson and Scott Morrison agree on,

won't do me, my community, or planet, much good.

Not really clutching at straws when its bringing the issues to those who weren't aware of it. I knew most of it from following the story for a while now but the stuff with his sister and father was new and a different angle from my POV.

And now we see the impact of all those supposed anti-terror laws which have gone through parliament over the last 20 or so years.

The COVID restrictions have been bad, but necessary, and there is a path away from those restrictions. But the anti-terror legislation is not some temporary state of emergency or the like, it is law until parliament repeals it. The war on terror has been a boon for those who want a stronger surveillance state, and it has the advantage of a vague enemy that never seems to go away.

The other link 4Corners brought to the table was the link between QAnon and Morrison using the term "ritual child abuse". The copy of the text message from ScoMo's buddy to his wife asking her to help in getting ScoMo to use the term. I don't think that message had been known before.

I've definitely read about that before but yeah its obviously not widely known which adds more weight to 4 Corners doing the story.

I'd read about QAnon getting ScoMo to use the words, I'd never seen the note from the nutter to his nutter wife urging her to get it done. I had always assumed it was something morrison and the nutter discussed while building a chicken coop or something.

Interesting times. Feels like our democratic rights to voice an opinion is being slowly stripped away.

With legal action against that minister & cops by the group ( if i got this right) theyve applied that law against them. Woah. A meme site! But there has to be more to it maybe we dont know about.
