Changes Against Freo - Round 20

Wow, Broad has recovered much quicker than first anticipated.
Likely Broad and Prestia are back this week V Freo. CCJ most likely to play ressies in his first game back.
Next week Vlustuin and Macintosh return V North
Bachar RD23 and Balta back finals bye weekend.

That's 6 players back plus Edwards who just returned V Cats.
A 3rd of the side has been out for multiple games, take 7-8 top 22 players out of any side and see how they go.

So if we end up playing finals and we don't sustain any further long term injuries, only Dusty and Soldo will be our main 2 outs.

VFL plays in Frankston on Sunday, interesting to see how many players RFC took over to Perth late Sunday??. Clearly any left here an not (can not) play v Freo

I'd go -

In - Broad, Prestia, CJ
Out - George, Aarts, Chol

FB.....Grimes.....Astbury....Garthwaite
HB....Rioli..........Broad........Mansell
C.......Pickett.....Cotchin......Parker
HF.....Short........Riewoldt.....Lambert
FF......Baker........Lynch..........Edwards
R.......Nankervis.....Prestia.....Bolton
Int...Graham....Ross.....Stack.....CJ

would keep Garthwaite and play Broad in the Vlastuin role
move Short to the forward line
Ross into the midfield rotations
Stack into the backline rotations
Graham into the mid/forward rotations
Lambert, Edwards, Baker, Short and Graham to be the pressure forwards
CJ third tall / relief ruck

Be disappointed if either Ross or Stack or both make way for Prestia and Broad.

I cant see Garth surviving the cut if Broad is back. And Chol stays.

Out: Aarts Garthwaite Castagna
In: Caddy Broad Prestia

B: Grimes Astbury Stack
HB: Rioli Broad Short
C: Pickett Cotchin Ross
HF: Lambert Lynch Edwards
FF: Caddy Riewoldt Baker
R: Nankervis Bolton Prestia
Int: Graham Mansell Chol Parker

I'd keep Garth so we can keep both Grimes and Broad free.
Our backline works best when Grimes is the deepest sweeper and Vlastuin (or Broad in this occasion) is free to intercept and mop up further upfield.
Astbury minds the gorilla's and we need one other stopper/dour defender. In this case it's Garth.
Once Vlastuin returns, Garth goes out and Broad becomes the other stopper.
Interesting what happens when Balta returns - I like the suggestion of playing him as a small forward.
Rather CJ over Chol - harder at the aerial contest, better mark and more upside.

Good to see both Dion and Broad as probables:

Probable
Dion Prestia – hamstring
Nathan Broad – ankle

Unavailable
Nick Vlastuin – knee/quad cork – short term
Kamdyn McIntosh – hamstring – short term
Bachar Houli – ankle – short term
Noah Balta – ankle – medium term
Ivan Soldo – knee – long term
Dustin Martin – kidney – long term

Yep, ONLY Dusty! and Soldo.
But I agree, if the injuries deities are going to smile on us from now, we should be looking at the three-peat.
