I don't think there's any point debating further whether someone thinks Dusty or KB was the better player. No one is going to give up any ground on this one.

Having read some of the posts though, I find it really disappointing someone would say they'd punch KB if they met him. I'm not sure if that was a tongue in cheek comment, but there's been plenty of good and bad Tigers over the years. Not sure why we'd single out KB for that type of comment.

I would be personally disappointed, yes.
I probably wouldn't like them either.
But smacking someone in the mouth is just too aggressive a response for my liking irrespective of who is involved.
There are better and more productive ways to protect/back your mates.
Each to their own, I guess.
Forgiveness is, in my experience, a mighty powerful gift.

Seriously Mate, for your own mental health you would do well to excise that cancer. I have seen grudges turn seriously toxic with a devastating effect on families, friendships, and even life. And this a grudge by proxy. It doesn't bode well.

Don’t really want cut KB any slack on this, but he was far from the only one ready to throw Dusty under the bus. Save that sort of vitriol for his accuser who started the whole thing. In terms of their respective onfield it’s hard to split them. I have Dusty just shading KB.

I'd feel pretty disgusted if it happened as you said it. I'm sure journalists go with things they know to be "true" from their sourced. They're expected to cross reference what their source said as well, so if Bartlett didn't do that, I'd be chasing him via those avenues and getting a public apology from him, on air.

But advocating violence doesn't have a place here (On these forums). When does that line get drawn where it's not OK to hit someone, but in these other circumstances it does become OK?

What if I didn't like something you posted and I said here next time I saw you I'd smack you in the mouth? Would that be OK too, or would it be not acceptable because it was someone in our PRE community.

I love your work here TBR. I like how you go against the grain and not the popular opinion on topics. But this effort isn't your finest work.

I was told stories of great Richmond players from Dusty Obrein. He was the man that made me a Richmond nut. He was my neighbour. Skinny Titus, Dyer, Etc

Yeah fair enough, I was using the phrase 'smack in the mouth' more as a figure of speech but I take the point.

I have my heart on my sleeve with these sorts of things because I've seen the impact words have on these young guys and their families. Journos and punters throw words out there with no care or concern for their impact and it really grates on me. Like the way people casually suggest Dustin or others are recreational drug users as though it is a joke, which is something that has even happened on here. Not so funny when it's mothers and grandmothers reading it though, especially when it is completely untrue.

So I'm sensitive about it, probably over-sensitive and I let my emotions get the better of me, which I shouldn't of. I whole heartedly apologise and withdraw.

I do reserve the right to call him a *smile* *smile* *smile* *smile* if we ever meet however.

Maybe think of it this way TBR... Dusty had a hard time of it when it all happened but he clearly moved past it. He wouldn't care what anyone in the media says these days (I'm guessing). If he saw KB do you reckon he'd mention it? I don't.

That's great to have that connection. My father and grandfather were massive tiger fans, the family knew Roy Wright a bit and got some stories from him.
Dad used to say that he had seen some awesome Richmond players but he had never seen one better than Royce Hart. Sadly he was long gone by the time Dusty came on the scene.

There is a very important point in what you say that doesn't specifically relate to Dusty and KB and that is the "laissez faire" attitude the footy media and general media have to the truth about players. The effect that these stories and some of the innuendo have on not just the players but their families is rarely thought about. Of course then they get into social media which makes it worse.
