Pick 63, 2017 Ben Miller - Welcome to Tigerland.

Really impressed with his decision making so far. Seems to always choose the right option. Lot's of upside IMHO.

IF we get a solid career out if Miller.
And Gibcus fulfils his early promise. Excellent. A grade defense.

And IF our Biggie can make it then look out. Athletic fast and tall. And kick very very well.
All Three are ultra promising and set our list management up

Miller is good enough to make it.

Other clubs will be looking at him and seeing a very nicely developed, young, big, and competent KPD and offering him $350k a year

Has all the tools to make an AFL career

Compared to Garth he is a world-beater.!
i reckon on performance so far he is pretty similar to Garth. Difference is Miller is a lot taller, a lot stronger, a lot faster and a lot better kick.
Garthwaite could've eeked out a career as a back up and done all right, but that is all he ever would be- due to physical limitations. Miller should continue to get better and better.

Definitely looks, and is better at the higher level. Uses the ball well, his pace is going to be a great asset.

92%, 93% TOG in his two games this year.

Miller can make a big difference to us if we can level him up. He's always had elite tools. But not, to date, performance.

Instance. Ball spills out the back towards their goal square. Miller beats Tarrant and Gibcus to the loose. No smalls to be seen at the fall but some pressure arrives. Our boys raffle it and spread, easily working the ball out of 50. These are not tall backs who overcook it and then go down the line. They can spread and use. And they are genuinely tall.

Being natural footballers they gelled like old mates in their second game together. (Against mediocre opponents.)

We can bank Tarrant and Gibcus. It's huge for us if we can get Miller to flourish. Three talls who are classy ball users? Nobody has that.

What is clear by now is that Miller is maturing.

I reckon he has a future here at Punt Road but he only has a one year deal so I just hope he doesn't go home next year to Perth

Reckon a few here are being very generous to Miller. 5th year in the system and still hits contests like a tentative first year. Should be doing better.
You forget his background and he came from and the fact that his early football training was nowhere near the standards of those who live in Victoria (as an example). He was always going to be a year or two behind and was picked up as a project player. He has had his share of injuries as well but is now showing that he has real promise and these few games at a high level are building his confidence in himself. Like DLTD he halves his contests which is a plus, he also moves well, good at ground level, can kick and can nullify his opponent and that is something for one still relatively inexperienced. I am vocal supporter of any kid who does that

Taller stronger faster better kick

So really nothing like Garthwaite

Whilst we want to see Ben kick it up a few gears, he has shown some good solid traits that I am liking.

He is playing simple footy they give him a simple job contest spoil and back up that's his job to gain his confidence.

To be fair I'm happy for him to get a few games to keep him happy at Punt Road whilst he grows in confidence.

If he steps up too fast other clubs will come for him, especially the Eagles, Maggots, Hawks, Dogs and Drugs who will all offer him first team footy.

Keep his development to the level and not make too many waves to attract too much attention

I’m a fan, and definitely don’t want to see him getting dropped. Starting to show something. Solid no fuss defender with very neat skills and good decisions making.

yeah that was a play wasnt it?
a mini-cameo as a footballer and not just a lock down defender. Confidence, working alongside the upstart in Gibcus.
Flourish and be dammed young Miller

In my view we spend too much worry on players leaving
Look at Pickett, Stack, Graham, Dusty, even Rance. Hours and hours of nervous nellie chatter.
A strong and happy work environment keeps most players in TIgerland.

Chol and CJ left for coin and opportunity and we were happy with the outcome. Miller is a young and very inexperienced defender, without much exposure. Doubt there is a strong risk for him leaving.
